Overview

Reached by a long private drive, the house emerges amid magnificent gardens, the fresh aroma from the plants and flowers fills the air around the house. Guests are welcome to pick rhubarb, berries, or pears when in season.

Inside, a carved bench and coat rack greet visitors before leading into the snug, where cosy seating, a wood-burning stove and TV make the perfect retreat. Like most rooms, it is decorated with wood panelling, curtains and clocks, reminders of the family’s clockmaking heritage.

A downstairs twin bedroom offers storage, a sink, and garden views, with Loch Ard glimpsed beyond. The main communal living space is generous, with sofas, a window perch for reading, and binoculars for spotting wildlife. The grand dining room seats 12 and features another stove, a grandfather clock, and sweeping garden views.

Other highlights downstairs include a veranda overlooking the grounds, a library, kitchen with Aga, conservatory with a unique table made from Alloa’s town hall clock face, and two double bedrooms, one with an en suite. A shower room and utility space provide added convenience.

Upstairs, a landing adorned with paintings and another clock leads to three bedrooms, a twin ideal for children with a dolls house and two doubles, each enjoying splendid views. A family bathroom with bath, handheld shower and storage serves the floor.

Blairuskin balances social spaces with cosy corners. Guests can gather to play games, share meals, or simply sit with a book and a warm drink.

In the garden, a converted garage serves as a lively games room with table tennis, table football and pool, plus a fridge freezer for refreshments. Around 30 acres of woodland surround the lodge, with paths for long walks, views over Ben Lomond and Loch Ard, and a stream at the garden’s edge, perfect for relaxing with children and dogs.

The lodge’s setting is remote and tranquil, though occasionally the road between Kinlochard and Aberfoyle may flood. Should this happen, guests are advised not to drive through, as water levels usually recede within six to eight hours. Updates are available via River Level Information.
