The Sma' Glen, between Aberfeldy and Crieff in Perthshire, must be one of Scotland's best kept secrets.

It is a little gem, a tiny bit of the Highlands in the Lowlands, where the hills swoop down to the sheep-nibbled grassy banks of the picturesque and shallow River Braan and where buzzards and kites soar in the skies above.
Branching off from this glen is the even quieter Glen Quaich, where a tiny road wends its way between Amulree and Loch Tay - it is here that you will find Easter Garrows Cottage. A most comfortable and well-maintained detached cottage reached by a short track, with only a farm steading in the immediate vicinity and with lovely views up and down the glen from its fenced grass garden. There is parking in the garden and secure storage in the cottage's garage.
The cottage is bright and spacious and has been furnished to a high standard. There is a U-shaped living area with a modern, well-equipped kitchen, dining area and sitting room with wood-burning stove. There are three bedrooms (one twin/double with en suite shower room, a further twin and a single) and a family bathroom, all of which makes the accommodation very versatile indeed.
One of the joys of being in a place like this is that you can enjoy the wonderful peace and quiet (the river Quaich flows under the bridge at the end of the track) and yet not be so very far from many well trumpeted attractions.
The pretty village of Kenmore on Loch Tay has hotels, cafes, shops and a golf course, as well as lots of interesting activities at the restored Iron Age crannog in the loch and water sports aplenty.
Aberfeldy, 5 miles to the east of Kenmore, has all facilities, a leisure centre and even a cinema. From there you can head back to the A9 at Pitlochry and north to Aviemore and the Cairngorms.
To the south is Crieff and Strathearn, with more watersports on Loch Earn and an easy road to the west coast and Glencoe, if you want to explore further afield, while to the east, Fife, Stirling and Edinburgh are quite feasible destinations for day trips.
Plenty to do then, but at least some of your holiday should be spent walking, trout or pike fishing in nearby Loch Freuchie, cycling or just relaxing in the glorious countryside round the cottage and having lazy picnics by the river while the kids play in the water. Easter Garrows is in an idyllic spot and one you will wish to return to again and again.
