Timber lodges can come in various standards and degrees of comfort, but we can honestly say that the Whitehills Lodge is a very superior specimen indeed!

It is one of four, occupying a beautiful situation in lovely Glen Isla near Alyth. It faces away from the other lodges on the site, with expansive views across the valley of the Isla to the hills beyond.
These views can be enjoyed either from behind the patio doors, or from the excellent decking area (with furniture) which runs round two sides of the lodge. There are lots of picnic spots along the river, ideal for relaxing on hot summer days and splendid walking in the hills round about.
Inside the lodge is lined in polished pine throughout and has been furnished and equipped to a very high standard, with considerable style. The spacious, open plan, living area has an electric flame effect stove to keep it cosy and the many large windows and patio doors to the decking area create a very light and cheerful atmosphere. Separated from the rest of the living space by a low set of units, the kitchen area is spacious and very practically laid-out.
All on one level, to the back of the house are the three bedrooms, a double, a twin and a room with two full size bunk beds. All of the bedrooms are bright and comfortable and attractively furnished. A neat, modern shower room completes the accommodation.
This is a truly idyllic spot, where deer may come down to feed around the lodge in the morning and evening and where you are also likely to see squirrels, hares and buzzards, with sheep, cattle and sometimes gentle Clydesdale horses grazing in the adjoining fields. It is half a mile by track (suitable, with care, for ordinary cars) from the nearby country road, so is both peaceful and safe for children and pets.
The lodge is equally well suited to guests who come simply to relax and enjoy the frequent sightings of the local wildlife, as well as those who prefer to be out and about exploring the lovely surroundings.
Glen Isla is one of the beautiful Angus Glens (the others are Prosen and Clova) which have been called Scotland's best-kept secret.
At the top of the Glen you join the A93 which will take you up to Braemar and Royal Deeside, with skiing at Glenshee in season on the way.
Alyth (9 miles) has shops and two excellent golf courses, while the prestigious Rosemount course at Blairgowrie (all facilities) is just 5 miles further to the west. From there it is a pleasant drive across to the A9 at Dunkeld, where you can strike out for Aviemore, the Cairngorms and even Inverness.
On the way, be sure to visit the RSPB hide at the Loch of the Lowes, where in spring and summer you can see the magnificent ospreys on their nest or fishing for their dinner in the loch.
To the South, Dundee, Fife, St Andrews and Perth are all readily accessible by car. For somewhere so secluded and peaceful, the Whitehills location is still remarkably suitable for touring in all directions.
