Once a simple old stone cottage, it has received loving attention from the owner to make it into the most charming, characterful and downright romantic holiday home for two people.
It stands in its own enclosed grass garden, with trees round about and views over the surrounding countryside. There is a large, gravel turning area and ample parking to the side.
The cottage is configured on the 'upside-down' principle, with downstairs having a beautifully furnished king-size double bedroom with French doors on to the garden and an en suite shower room.
Upstairs are the living quarters with a well-equipped and presented modern kitchen and a living area. Inevitably this has a coombed ceiling to one side, so taller guests should exercise some caution. However any such considerations are likely to fade into insignificance when you see the patio doors which open on to a full length balcony!
From the cottage you are within easy reach of two coasts, the Aberdeenshire and the Banff, both with plenty of attractions for holiday makers. Along the Banffshire coast you can visit the string of enchanting little fishing villages, Gardenstown, Pennan, Crovie, Findochty, to name but a few, each with their own particular charm and character.
Both coasts offer sandy beaches - there is a particularly fine one at St Combs, a drive of about half an hour from the cottage and with an abundance of wildlife. Visit the RSPB centre at Troup Head, the Scottish Dolphin Centre at Spey Bay, or take a cruise from Macduff, where there is also a marine aquarium.
There is plenty of scope too for active pursuits - a whole string of good golf courses, fishing either in the sea or the many excellent rivers in the area (including the famous Spey itself), excellent country walks, or, if you fancy something more challenging, you can head for the Cairngorm National Park.
The former Formartine and Buchan railway line, which passes close to the cottage, is now open for walking and cycling. Royal Deeside is within easy driving distance and there are a whole string of stately homes, castles and gardens to visit in the area.
