Set in the picturesque countryside of the Glenmoriston Estate is Kennel House, a substantial house with beautiful views out towards wonderful Loch Ness, near the village of Drumnadrochit (12 miles) in Inverness-shire.

Guests are sure to be drawn to the bright and inviting living accommodation as it has all been laid out open plan so that is the ideal place to gather to cook, eat and relax around the fire together. The gable end of the room is double-height and made mainly out of glass to show off the incredible view out towards the loch, while the wood-burning stove in a feature stone fireplace keeps it all cosy.
From the kitchen area a door leads out to the patio that wraps around the front of the house with seating provided for enjoying a drink or meal outdoors or simply sitting absorbing the ambience. Storage for coats and boots, etc can be found in the welcoming entrance hall.
The elegant master double bedroom has its own contemporary en suite shower room with a walk-in, wetroom style shower and the other two pretty twin bedrooms share another wetroom shower room.
A private drive leads up to the house and large parking area and from the garden an expansive, sweeping vista can be admired across parkland to where the river joins Loch Ness. There is a drop down from the woodland behind the house so care should be taken.
An excellent hotel bar/restaurant can be found at the Glemoriston Arms Hotel just half a mile away (closed from the middle of December to the middle of February each year). The bar has a good selection of single malt whiskies to try as well as the choice of eating in the bar or more formal restaurant.
Licenses are available for fishing on the banks of the River Moriston within the estate and just 150 metres away from the house. The Invermoriston Falls are around a 15 minute walk away and they are especially impressive when the river swells after heavy rain.
The Great Glen Way walking route passes through Invermoriston so walkers can join it in both directions heading either north towards the ‘capital of the Highlands’ Inverness or south towards Fort William.
Loch Ness is certainly the main attraction in the area and what better way is there to fully appreciate it than from a boat cruise? Loch Ness Cruises run trips on an hourly basis in season with daytime or evening tours that depart from Drumnadrochit (12 miles) with plenty of wildlife to spot along the way and, of course, some Nessie spotting!
Sitting on a rocky outcrop just outside Drumnadrochit is the famous Urquhart Castle (10.5 miles) that dates back to the 13th century. The visitor centre there features a model of how the castle once looked and it is fun to wander around the site imagining it as it was in its prime. Drumnadrochit is also home to two different ‘monster museums’ dedicated to the famously elusive local resident.
