It is just the place for those looking for a cosy hideaway to enjoy some peace and quiet and an inviting base to return to after days spent out exploring the scenic area.
Off the spacious hallway downstairs there is a handy utility room where the laundry facilities are housed and a family bathroom that offers the option of a soak in the bath or the convenience of the shower over.
The two bedrooms, a double and a twin, are set out upstairs to make the most of the views out over the rugged, relatively undisturbed landscape that surrounds the cottage.
Outside, a raised deck area has been positioned to the side of the cottage with seating to enjoy the solitude and privacy from.
Rogart (3.3 miles) has a little shop and a train station that arrives into Inverness in just 2 hours for day trips. In the hamlet of Pittentrail (5 miles) excellent meals and a good selection of malts are on offer at the Pittentrail Inn.
Golspie (11 miles) has a small supermarket, a lovely beach and an 18 hole links golf course that welcomes visitors and is set right on the seashore, providing a very picturesque backdrop to a challenging round or two. Bikes can be hired in Golspie and the nearby Highland Wildcat Trails have something to suit everyone with blue, red and black trails to try out.
Just 5 minutes’ drive out of Golspie, the impressive Dunrobin Castle has been home to the Earls and Dukes of Sutherland since the 1300s. It is worth taking the time to take a self-guided tour, not forgetting a wander around the gorgeous formal gardens where there are beautiful plants, flowers, trees and more fantastic sea views. There are also interesting falconry displays in the summer months that showcase the incredible hunting skills of some magnificent birds of prey.
Further up the coastline at Brora (13 miles) is a 2 mile long stretch of sandy beach that is ideal for spotting the seals, dolphins and even minke whales that have been sighted here.
The North Coast 500 driving route runs through Brora and Golspie so there is the chance to drive on parts of the iconic route that has been called Scotland’s answer to Route 66!
Wildlife lovers will enjoy a visit to the Loch Fleet Nature Reserve (9 miles) where pretty woodland walks lead around the reserve and an array of birdlife can be seen including ospreys fishing in the loch.
