At the heart of the house is the sitting/dining room where the wood-burning stove adds cosiness and a nice inviting atmosphere. Large windows show off the wonderful views in both directions and the sea can even be seen over on the horizon. A neat dining area has been set out alongside the glass doors that open out to the garden and there is a neat and well-equipped kitchen with a worktop dishwasher that certainly comes in handy.
Everything is all on the one level here with attractive double and twin bedrooms and a family bathroom that has the choice of a bath or separate walk-in shower cubicle. There is also useful storage for coats, etc in the little entrance hall.
The house stands in sloping grassed garden grounds with mature shrubs and trees dotted around and private parking provided behind the house (4 steps down to the door).
As the roads around the house are quiet and single track they are ideal for cyclists and walkers will find plenty to keep them busy too with a scenic landscape to explore all around.
Brora (1.5 miles) has a grocery shop, an inn that serves traditional pub grub and a hotel restaurant that makes use of lots of fresh highland produce. It also has a lovely sandy beach that seals often like to relax on and even the local cows enjoy paying a visit!
Set right on the coast just by the beach is a very picturesque 18 hole championship golf course with amazing views out to sea that can prove to be quite a distraction whilst playing. From Brora’s train station it is just only a couple of hours journey into Inverness for a day trip.
A short drive away is the delightful shore of Loch Brora that is a very peaceful and tranquil setting for a picnic whilst sitting admiring the water. Excellent salmon fishing can also be arranged in the nearby River Brora.
The area is known for its whisky production with several different distilleries in easy reach including the Brora Distillery (1 mile) that offers exclusive, bespoke tours. Just round the corner from it is the Clynelish Distillery which also run tours and has some interesting sculptures to look out for in the grounds. A little further afield there is the chance to see the famous Glenmorangie Distillery (23 miles) near Tain.
Bike hire is available in Golspie (7.5 miles) and mountain bikers will enjoy trying out the Highland Wildcat mountain biking trails just outside the village. Golspie is also home to the stunning Dunrobin Castle that looks like it has been lifted straight from a fairytale. Supermarket shopping can be done in Tain (24.5 miles) where there is another pretty 18 hole golf course.
