Overview

Once inside, a warm and inviting entrance hall leads through to the sitting room where the wood-burning stove begs you to curl up in front of it and the charming window seat is a good place to spot wildlife from.

The kitchen has a lovely homely feeling with an Aga at its heart, a dishwasher that makes short work of the washing up and a dining area that has been set up by the window in order to make the most of the view out towards the loch.

Laundry facilities are housed in the utility room that has plenty of storage space for shoes and boots and handy drying racks for coats, etc.

The bedrooms are all laid out upstairs where there are two double rooms (one en suite), a twin room and a bathroom with a bath and shower over.

Outside the grassed garden is ideal for children and pets to run around in and there is plenty of parking right by the house. With fields to the side and gentle, wooded hills behind the cottage’s setting is quite idyllic with excellent unimpeded views across the bay to the sparkling waters of the loch.

Map & Local

Port Appin (3 miles) has a community store and a couple of hotel restaurants to try with menus that feature lots of fresh, local seafood. It is also one of the crossing points for passenger ferry trips over to the Isle of Lismore, a relatively unspoilt and incredibly fertile island with some absolutely gorgeous views.

Ferries cross regularly to Lismore throughout the day and bicycles can be taken across for free. The bike hire company in Appin offers bikes and even electric bikes that are great for sightseeing on two wheels.

A visit to see the iconic Castle Stalker (5 miles) is sure to be one of the first things on the agenda. Boat trips run out to the castle from Port Appin for those wanting a closer look from the perspective of the water and seals, otters and majestic sea eagles can often be spotted along the way. With some sea eagles having wing spans of up to 2.5 metres it is hard to miss them!

Walkers will find plenty of quiet routes to keep them occupied and munro baggers can tackle Beinn Sgulaird that towers over Loch Creran. Loch Creran itself has been designated as a Marine Special Area of Conservation in order to protect its precious bedrock and living reefs where an abundance of sealife thrive.

If you want to explore further afield, bustling Oban (18 miles) is a well known hub for boat day trips over to the isles of Mull, Iona and Staffa. Anyone looking for more of an adrenalin rush can try out a coasteering adventure with Vertical Descents that involves wild swimming, cliff jumps and cave exploration.
