Overview

Here you are perfectly placed for visiting Iona and the other islands round about. The cottage stands in its own small garden, next door to the owner's house, with lovely views across the inlet in front of it.

In the sitting room it is snug and warm, made particularly bright and welcoming by the large windows that look out on to the lovely views (some guests have even spotted the local otters at play). In the evening, its flame effect electric fire and subtle lighting give it an equally warm and attractive ambience.

The dining kitchen is also rendered light and airy by its patio doors to the garden, which make it very easy to run outside to catch a glimpse of every passing eagle, hen harrier or owl, all of which are very much at home here. The kitchen area is neatly designed and very well equipped, with the dining area behind it.

All on one level there are two double bedrooms. The principal bedroom is warm and inviting with the mirrored doors on the large built-in wardrobe giving a very spacious feel. The second double is charmingly decorated in marine tones which are entirely appropriate for a house which is so near the sea and a shower room completes the accommodation.

There is off road parking within the enclosed garden just to the side of the house and a ramped pathway leads right up to the front door. Given where it is and what it is, it is sure to be a winner with the many holiday makers who come each year to visit this enchanting and accessible island.

Map & Local

Bunessan has a shop and a hotel and nearby Fionnphort is where you can take the little foot ferry across to the sacred isle of Iona.

It is also the starting point for boat trips to Staffa to see the legendary Fingal's Cave and the Treshnish isles. If you are lucky, you may spot dolphins, basking sharks and even whales in the surrounding waters.

Walkers will enjoy forays into the surrounding hills and there are lots of quiet coves along this coast for leisurely picnics. Duart and Torosay Castles are well worth a visit and children and adults alike will enjoy a trip on the miniature railway there.

While most of the roads on Mull tend to be single track, it is still possible to get round much of the island in a day. A visit to the picturesque 'capital' Tobermory is a must. If you go the 'pretty way' up the west coast, you will come to Ulva of Lord Ullin's Daughter fame, the fabulous beach at Calgary and heading inland the Mull Little Theatre at Dervaig. You can certainly relax, but should definitely never be bored on Mull!
