Minard is a tiny hamlet on the road running down the west shore of Loch Fyne, about 12 miles south of Inveraray (with all facilities).

If you leave the road and descend about half a mile on a track through the woods to the edge of the loch, you will come to Minard Court and the two pretty semi-detached cottages, Loch and Garden. The owner's house, a little way up the track, is the only other neighbour.
Quietly situated far from traffic, Loch Cottage has uninterrupted views to the loch at the front across to the ruin of Castle Lachlan.
Inside, the open plan living area is spacious and, with several windows, is bright and cheerful, while the wood-burning stove adds a welcoming cosiness. Everything is to hand, yet with no sense of being cramped. The seating area occupies most of the room, with the dining table behind it. The kitchen is off the sitting area, a neat kitchenette which is perfectly suited to its purpose.
Having a downstairs double bedroom (albeit with two steps) and bathroom make the cottage suitable for those with limited mobility or who just prefer not to climb too many stairs.
Upstairs are two bedrooms, a twin and a single, that are pleasantly furnished with coombed ceilings. The whole cottage is neat and immaculately presented and it is no wonder that enthusiastic guests return here again and again.
Outside there is parking right at the door and a very sheltered pebble beach to the front. There is a steep drop at the foreshore where an underground burn flows onto the beach (care to be taken).
There are lovely woodland walks along the shoreline here, or you can attempt some of the many hills in the area and the National Trust Gardens at Crarae are just 5 minutes up the road.
You can then continue south down the Mull of Kintyre to Campbeltown and Machrihanish, where there is golf, surfing and kayaking. If you stop at Tayinloan, you can catch the ferry over to Gigha and visit the Achamore Gardens there or, in summer, you can catch the ferry from Claonaig and spend a day on the Isle of Arran.
Minard has a Post Office which opens in the morning for newspapers and basic requirements. Inveraray, where the castle and jail are well worth a visit and Lochgilphead are equidistant and have full shopping facilities. Inveraray also has a golf course and there is a riding centre at Dalchenna on the way.
There is excellent fishing either from the rocks or from a boat and the area has a wide variety of wildlife - porpoises, seals and dolphins, deer and red squirrels and, of course, many sea and woodland birds.
