The cabins were featured in The Guardian's article on '10 of the best cosy holiday cabins in the UK'. Sea views are showcased all through this modern cabin with its open plan layout so sitting back and relaxing whilst admiring them really is the order of the day here. The bay is a great draw for a variety of wildlife including otters and deer that can frequently be spotted down on the shoreline.
Romantic meals can be cooked up using the built-in appliances in the cooking island and served up at the dining table that folds neatly out of the way when not in use. A sliding door separates the cosy double bedroom from the rest of the living area and there is also an en suite bathroom just off it.
Sit on the deck in front of the cabin to fully appreciate the white sands and sparkling turquoise waters that far exceed most people’s expectations of a Scottish beach! It is a just a minute’s walk straight down to the shore for further exploration.
Please note: Ferry tickets over to Lewis should be booked with CalMac Ferries at the time of booking your stay in order to ensure availability.
There are fantastic sandy beaches all around if you can tear yourself away from what feels like your own private one just outside. It is a short drive to pop along to Uig (3 miles) for basic provisions and petrol, although Stornoway (32 miles) is the nearest for supermarket shopping so it is worth stocking up en route when leaving the ferry.
The nearby Abhainn Dearg Distillery is the most westerly distillery in Scotland where some fine single malts are produced and guided tours and tasting sessions are available. It is only 10 minutes’ walk away from the cabin so there is no need to even take the car.
Stornoway has some interesting little independent shops that are enjoyable to wander around and the Museum nan Eilean in the grounds of Lews Castle is a great place to find out more about the island’s history and traditions.
From Leverburgh in South Harris boat trips run over to St Kilda island, a world heritage site that is home to a vast number of seabird colonies with puffins, guillemots and gannets to name but just a few.
To explore further afield take a ferry over to see the islands of North and South Uist that are known for their stunning beauty. A ferry from Harris also links up to Great Berneray where there are even more fabulous beaches, a Historical Society Museum and, at the north of the island, is the fascinating Bostadh Iron Age House.
Please note: while we make every effort to be as accurate as possible, the actual position of the cottage indicated on the map above and the proximity of the amenities in the Local Info section cannot be guaranteed to be precise and should be used as a guide only.
