Overview

This bespoke holiday cabin has a great open plan layout with distinct areas for sitting taking in the amazing surroundings, preparing tasty meals and enjoying them at the dining area where there spectacular sea views to admire.

The wonderful vista is spread out right in front of the bedroom window making it quite the sight to wake up to in the mornings! A full en suite bathroom is laid out just off the double bedroom so there is no compromising on bathroom facilities required here.

Lots of wildlife can be spotted visiting the bay with otters and deer to look out for, as well as a wide array of birdlife including impressive golden eagles. As there is so little light pollution on the island it is possible, in the right conditions, to experience the mesmerising Aurora Borealis or ‘Northern Lights’.

Please note: Ferry tickets over to Lewis should be booked with CalMac Ferries at the time of booking your stay in order to ensure availability.

Map & Local

With the exquisite beach just a stone’s throw away, exploring it is sure to be the first activity on most people’s agenda. The soft sand and sparkling waters may conjure up feelings of being in the Caribbean and, although the temperatures may not quite match up, the scenery is certainly no less appealing!

Uig (3 miles) has a shop for picking up basic supplies and Stornoway (32 miles) is the best place for supermarket shopping and the opportunity to sample the well-known speciality Stornoway black pudding.

Hebridean Adventures run boat tours from Stornoway harbour that head out for wildlife spotting adventures around the various Outer Hebridean islands. Seals and dolphins can be spotted out in the waters and there is the chance to see whales and even basking sharks.

Nearby Ardroil beach was the site of the discovery of the famous Lewis Chess Pieces that were found in a hoard beneath the sand back in 1831. They date all the way back to the late 12th century and part of the collection can be seen on display in the National Museum of Scotland in Edinburgh. A wooden statue celebrates the discovery and the beach itself is lovely to wander along beachcombing.

Anyone with an interest in history will certainly enjoy a visit to the Callanish Standing Stones (23 miles), a magnificent set of stones that are said to have been erected 5,000 years ago. It is quite awe inspiring to see up close something that has been there for such a long time, particularly as they remain in such good condition to this day.

Please note: while we make every effort to be as accurate as possible, the actual position of the cottage indicated on the map above and the proximity of the amenities in the Local Info section cannot be guaranteed to be precise and should be used as a guide only.
