A stand-out feature is its impressive open-plan living space – and French doors out onto a large deck, where stunning panoramic views of Uig Sands are guaranteed to be a highlight, regardless of the weather.

A state-of-the-art kitchen is well-equipped to prepare meals that can be enjoyed either at the table whilst gazing at the Uig Hills, or cosied up on an armchair next to the woodburning stove; each one making the most of outstanding comfort and scenery.

And whether it’s been an adventurous day, or relaxing, a secluded setting will ensure a peaceful night. The master double bedroom also features a walk-in shower room, whilst two single bedrooms and an additional small shower room complete the accommodation.

The property stands in an enclosed garden just a stone’s throw to the beach – and has one more remarkable feature, with only a gate separating this idyllic cottage, from a walk on the sands.

Alfresco dining, sunbathing or morning coffee can all be enjoyed on the magnificent decking – and for water sports enthusiasts, there is perfect access when the tide is in.

A garage utility room, with boiler, can be used as a drying room, and for storage of outdoor clothing and equipment.

The islands can be reached by flights from Edinburgh, Glasgow or Inverness, or by Ferry from Uig on Skye to Tarbert, or Ullapool to Stornoway.

Map & Local

The white sands of Uig Bay are classed as one of only 40 National Scenic Areas in Scotland, and are guaranteed to become one of the favourite parts of a holiday to this part of the Isle of Lewis.

But despite the island only being 36-miles long and 12 miles wide, there are a host of other exciting things to see and do in the area – from exploring the stunning beaches and plethora of wildlife, to hiking, island-hopping, soaking up the vast history, or whisky tasting, to name a few.

The picturesque west coast is accessed by ferry from Ullapool to Stornoway, or by flying into the small airport there, with just under an hour’s drive to Port Carnish.

Stornoway, the largest town on the island and an important port, is 32-miles from Carnish village. The town, with a population of almost 7,000 people, boasts a supermarket, as well as many other independent shops which are worth a visit – along with the chance to sample the well-known speciality Stornoway black pudding. However, Uig’s community shop is just three miles away, which sells petrol and the essentials.

Dining options include the spectacularly-located Uig Sands restaurant, when in season, and Uig Community Café also serves a good selection of food.

But the island’s rugged scenery, over 20 stunning beaches, and truly fascinating history, will also whet the appetite of any visitor. The most well-known of the latter is nearby Ardroil beach, where the famous 12th century Lewis Chessmen (or Uig Chessmen) Pieces were found back in 1831. A wooden statue at the beach celebrates their discovery, but after 150-years on the mainland, six pieces have returned, and are now on display within Stornoway’s Lews Castle.

The Callanish Standing Stones (23 miles away) are also well-worth a visit, the towering structures thought to have been erected over 5,000 years ago.

And for wildlife lovers and explorers, Hebridean Adventures run an array of boat tours from Stornoway harbour, providing a chance to make special memories, spotting puffins, eagles, seals, dolphins, and maybe even whales or basking sharks.

At the end of all of that, a unique day can be finished off with a visit to Scotland’s most westerly distillery, Abhainn Distillery - just a 10 minute walk away - where tours can be booked, and fine single malts can be enjoyed.
