The house has been fully refurbished with its magnificent setting showcased throughout by large windows and patio doors that frame the wonderful loch views. If guests want to spread out the spacious accommodation at Traigh Uaine is ideal as it has a choice of places to relax with both a sitting/dining room and separate TV room with dining area and great views out over the bay.

The very best of the loch views can be admired from the master double bedroom that has a king-size bed to stretch out on. There is also a second attractive double bedroom and one neat single room, as well as two colourful bath rooms, one of which has a wet room style shower.

Outside the large garden faces south and extends to around half an acre with a terraced seating area that has been positioned to make the most of the loch view. The garden slopes down to the shore with 30 metres of sea frontage to explore.

Fishing is directly from the pebbly beach and as Loch Sunart is a sea loch there are some interesting rock pools to investigate when the tide is out. Otters and seals often visit the bay and you may even be lucky enough to see golden eagles, sea eagles, dolphins or pine martens.

Off road parking for up to 3 cars is provided up by the road, with a steep 100 metre long private footpath (gradient about 1 in 5) that leads down to the house. There is no vehicular access down to the house. The grass track can be slippery, especially when wet, so reasonable fitness levels and suitable footwear are required and there is a bench half way down for enjoying the view. The terrain makes the path unsuitable for those with limited mobility.

Map & Local

The beautiful Ardnamurchan peninsula is known for its wild and varied landscape and there are plenty of walking routes to try nearby.

Wildlife enthusiasts will love a wildlife boat trip with Ardnamurchan Charters, based just next door, whose pontoon can be seen from the house. They offer the chance to see the captivating scenery of the peninsula from the water whilst spotting everything from seabirds and dolphins to whales and basking sharks. Boat hire is also available.

The Salen Jetty Shop (5 miles) has a good range of provisions to stock up on and the warm and welcoming Salen Hotel serves excellent meals in its formal dining room or informal sun room. Sanna beach is beautiful with its white sands and sparkling waters and at Ardtoe (9 miles) is another delightful sandy beach where you can see over to the Small Isles (Eigg, Rum, Muck and Canna) and enjoy some stunning sunsets.

Heading west along the loch whisky enthusiasts will want to head to the Ardnamurchan Distillery at Glenbeg (3.5 miles) for a ‘behind the scenes’ tour and, of course, a wee dram.

A wealth of wildlife information can be found at the Ardnamurchan Natural History Visitor Centre at Glenmore (4 miles). Or follow the road to the end of the peninsula to come to the Ardnamurchan Lighthouse and Visitor Centre that has panoramic views of the Hebrides and is also a good spot for whale watching.

Starting right from the house, hill tracks to Glenborrodale or Acharacle can be explored, or climb wild Ben Laga – all with stunning coastal views. The Glenborrodale RSPB Reserve nearby has a great short hill walk with views over Loch Sunart to the Isle of Mull.

As the peninsula enjoys very low levels of light pollution the dark skies make it the ideal place for a spot of stargazing or witnessing the stunning Aurora Borealis, or Northern Lights.
