The Corran is a charming, whitewashed terraced cottage which stands right on the loch frontage in the little village of Shieldaig, about 67 miles west of Inverness (where the Applecross peninsula meets Torridon).

This is one of the most scenically spectacular areas of north-west Scotland, with the soaring mountains of Torridon, beloved of walkers and climbers, to one side and the equally glorious coastline to the other and at The Corran you are perfectly situated to enjoy it all.
Inside, the cottage is snug and neat as a new pin. The cosy sitting room is the perfect place to relax by the wood-burning stove after a day out in the open air. There is a separate dining room and a well-equipped kitchen, utility room and bathroom, while upstairs are three bedrooms and a further WC.
Outside, there is a garden to the rear and another garden across the little road to the front which has a path that leads right down to the beach.
Shieldaig is an oasis of peace and beauty that runs along the loch shore and has a shop, a hotel and bistro cafe (open from April to September) all within walking distance of the cottage as well as a slipway for boats.
There are boat trips which you can take from close by to view the bird life on the neighbouring islands - there are sea eagles living on Shieldaig Island and they are often seen flying high above the village.
Further afield, the Applecross peninsula is famed for its beauty with an outstanding sandy beach. From Shieldaig you will take the coast road round to Applecross village with its two superb eating places, the Applecross Inn and the Walled Garden at Applecross House. However, if you have strong nerves, it is worth returning over the truly spectacular Bealach na Ba, the Pass of the Cattle - the views are simply to die for.
To the north, there is Gairloch with its beaches and golf course, the beach at Redpoint and the charmingly situated Badachro pub nearby, where you can sit in the garden and watch the boats go by. The famous subtropical gardens at Poolewe should not be missed, while lovers of wildlife can visit the Beinn Eighe nature reserve.
Above all, however, this is a place to relax and recharge the batteries among some of the most magnificent scenery in Britain.
