Leaving the road to Skye at Shiel Bridge and taking the spectacular road over the shoulder of Mam Ratagan, you will descend to the little village of Glenelg on the shores of the Sound of Sleat.

The views here across the Sound to the mountains of Skye on the other side are stupendous and Drumfearn Cottage is perfectly placed to take full advantage of them.
This deceptively spacious cottage is in the main 'street' of the village, with the excellent village store opposite and the famous inn serving superb food just a three minute walk along the road. To the back there is a large decking area (with furniture) and then it is just a 2 minute walk to the shingle shore.
This is a place which will appeal in particular to families and the expansiveness of the accommodation also gives the opportunity for two families to holiday comfortably together, for the cottage is a real 'Tardis'.
Downstairs, there is a sitting room, large kitchen/dining room with a central breakfast bar, utility room, double bedroom and shower room, while upstairs is another large lounge with wood-burning stove, further bathroom and double bedroom and a large room with two sets of bunk beds, which children will be sure to adore. The cottage is most comfortably furnished and very well equipped for the owner's own use, so you may be sure that all the facilities for a good holiday are in place.
There is certainly no lack of things for families to do here. There are sandy stretches of the shore which are perfect for picnics or just messing about at the water's edge.
You can cycle on down the little single track road which leads south to end at Corran or turn left up Gleann Beag and admire the amazing Pictish brochs there.
Or you can take the little turntable ferry which plies in summer between Glenelg and Kylerhea on Skye and visit the magical island. There is an otter hide at Kylerhea, for this is real otter country (you may even spy one from the house) and just down the road at Sandaig (the Camusfearna of his books) is where Gavin Maxwell, author of Ring of Bright Water, lived and worked.
Heading back over the Mam, there are riding stables at Shiel Bridge and then you are back on the main road which will again take you over the bridge to Skye or on up to picturesque Plockton and even Applecross.
