Deveron is a charming, detached house that enjoys magnificent views out over Upper Loch Torridon and the surrounding mountains, in the little linear village of Torridon in the north west Highlands.

The house has been cleverly positioned in an elevated position to make the very best of the wonderful loch views which are the focal point throughout. There is plenty of room to spread out into but the homely sitting room is sure to be the place where everyone gathers in the evenings to relax in front of the wood-burning stove or simply sit and admire the ever changing view of the water.
With dining areas in both the sitting room and modern kitchen there is a choice of places to enjoy breakfast together whilst planning the day’s activities. The kitchen is supplemented by a utility room where the tumble dryer is housed.
Both of the attractive double bedrooms look out towards the loch and there is also a neat twin bedroom, a shower room and a bathroom with bath and shower over.
The house is surrounded by dramatic mountain scenery all around with a huge garden at the rear that leads off into the wilderness beyond. There is ample off road parking and the garden is very well fenced to keep out deer so it is ideal for children and pets to play in safely.
Considering its peaceful setting the house is in easy reach of the well-stocked local shop that is just 5 minutes’ walk away with a café inside that serves tasty cakes.
The countryside all around is home to numerous red deer and you can get up close to them at the Deer Park (0.75 miles). There is a whole field of them to see, as well as a little museum and wildlife hide from which you may well spot otters, oyster catchers, mallard ducks, etc.
If a night off from cooking beckons, there is the choice of a fine dining experience at The Torridon hotel (2 miles) or more informal bar meals with lots of local produce at the Torridon Inn on the same site.
A programme of outdoor activities runs from the hotel with everything from archery and clay pigeon shooting to gorge scrambling, canoeing and sea kayaking. Bike hire is available and it is well worth trying a guided walk where an expert local guide will show off the very best sights and sounds of the area.
Walkers and hikers have the opportunity to ‘bag’ some munros as there are several nearby and corbetts to climb as well. There are also three famous ridge climbs around Torridon, Beinn Alligin, Liathach and Beinn Eighe, that involve a bit of rock scrambling. Beinn Eighe was the first National Nature Reserve to be established in the UK and its visitor centre provides interesting information on the mountain and has live webcams set up amongst the reserve.
Deveron is an excellent base for touring around the region - head north to Gairloch (30 miles) to visit the beautiful Big Sands beach, play a round on the 9 hole golf course or head out on the water on a wildlife boat trip to try to spot dolphins, whales and even orcas.
