The sunsets are amazing in this part of the word, plus the months of March and October also offer the chance for seeing the incredible Aurora Borealis or Northern Lights.
Downstairs, the stylish sitting room has a very generous comfy seating area and a wood-burning stove which keeps it nice and toasty. The beautifully fitted dining kitchen is a modern take on a traditional design and has a gas burner, The Aga in the property is being replaced with a range cooker for 2016. There is also a handy utility room.
Still on this level is one of the double bedrooms and a bathroom with a relaxing whirlpool bath, as well as a separate shower.
Upstairs is an additional cosy seating area and the other double bedroom (with king size bed) and a luxury bathroom with a stunning roll-top bath and separate walk-in shower.
The house stands in its own large, neatly fenced garden with decking and patio areas to sit and take in the beautiful views with its wonderful position being more than equalled by the comfort that is found within.
Carbost, with shop, pub and the world famous Talisker Whisky distillery, is only 3 miles away. On this side of the island you have Dunvegan, with its famous castle and Coral Beaches and the capital, Portree is around 17 miles up the road.
Additionally on the island, you can climb in the Cuillins or, less strenuously, walk up the Tables you can see from the cottage. Look out, too, for sea eagles in the skies above or take boat trips to view the teeming marine life around the shores.
A highly scenic and not particularly lengthy trip would be to head down the little road to Glenbrittle, where it comes to an end. Here there is a wonderful remote, sandy beach, as well as some wonderful views of the Cuillins. The streams coming off the mountains fall is some spectacular waterfalls, so there is the choice of either swimming in the sea, or cooling off on a hot day with a dip in the pools beneath the falls. The cottage is centrally situated for guests to enjoy all the many attractions of this most enchanting and atmospheric of islands.
If one island is not enough for you, there is always the possibility of heading for Sconser (14 miles) and taking the ferry (no booking necessary) across to the rather wonderful island of Raasay. This is a real step back in time in terms of peace and tranquillity.
Most inhabitants live at the southern end of the island and you can take the little road north through increasingly wild countryside without a house for miles, or walk round the eastern side of the island and discover the poignant traces of the old villages which were abandoned during the Highland Clearances. The views across to Applecross on the mainland are quite sensational.
