Skye has so many activities and delights on offer and this charming, detached cottage is perfect for exploring them safe in the knowledge that a comfortable sanctuary awaits your return in the evenings.
The modern kitchen is spacious, well-equipped and partly open plan to a cosy and welcoming sitting room with the dining table by the window for taking in the wonderful sea views during meals. In the double height sitting room there is a mezzanine above and large picture windows that give a lovely bright and airy feel.
The wooden clad double bedroom is downstairs so it is nice and handy, as is the shower room with its huge walk-in shower. An open wooden staircase then leads up to the mezzanine level where the cosy twin bedroom is ideal for children and there is an additional seating area looking down on the floor below.
From the parking area a path leads up to the little fenced grassed garden that has seating positioned perfectly for enjoying the tranquil surroundings and quiet and admiring the view out across the loch to the mountains beyond.
Skye is very accessible with the bridge from Kyle of Lochalsh bringing vehicles over to Kyleakin (20.5 miles), or the option of the ferry ride over from Mallaig that arrives into Armadale (9.5 miles).
Ord’s pretty sandy beach is just a mile away so is easily reachable on foot for a picnic and the sunsets that can be seen from the shore are stunning. Loch Eishort is a sea loch and otters and seals can often be spotted out in the water, as well as an array of birdlife such as buzzards, gannets, golden eagles and the extraordinary looking sea eagles.
Over on the other side of the peninsula is somewhat of a foodie heaven around Isleornsay (7 miles) with several fine restaurants to try out including the Am Praban Bar and Restaurant, the restaurant within the Duisdale House Hotel and Kinloch Lodge (9 miles) a bit further along.
Also on the eastern side of the peninsula is South Skye Sea Kayak who run full or half day guided sea kayaking expeditions with experienced group leaders who share their knowledge of the very best places to take in the sights from the water.
If supermarket shopping is on the agenda then Broadford (16 miles) is the place and in the market square are lots of interesting little independent shops where gifts and souvenirs can be picked up.
Get out and about exploring the island a bit further afield to see or even climb the Red Cuillins, take a ferry trip to the rugged natural beauty of the Isle of Raasay from Sconser (29 miles) or venture further up to Dunvegan (55 miles). At Dunvegan the coral beach is definitely one of the must see attractions, along with striking Dunvegan Castle that is drenched in history as home to Clan MacLeod for over 800 years and has 5 acres of beautiful gardens to wander around.
