Dog Friendly Cottages

Apart from the complete freedom it offers to guests, a cottage holiday has the further advantage that a very important member of the family need not be left behind in kennels, but can come and share the fun!

Many of our cottages are pet-friendly and are in locations which are perfect for dogs, with opportunities for long walks along deserted beaches, through quiet woodlands or on day-long hill walks. Then, after all that exercise, they can curl up in front of a roaring fire, dreaming of the rabbits they can chase the next day.

04-Dec-2023	Sgeir a'Chais AJ4 (overall)	We had a wonderful stay at the cottage. The prosecco on arrival was much appreciated, and the heaters had been left on for us. The cottage is cosy, comfortable and has great views over the loch which were lovely to wake up to. It's true that it is cold when getting in after being out for the day / getting up in the morning, but we didn't find this a problem as we had plenty of warm clothes, and it didn't take too long for the heat of the fuel burner to spread. Plenty of fuel had been left for us and we didn't need to buy more during our stay. We were also always warm in bed thanks to the electric blanket. The kitchen was exceptionally well equipped so it was easy to cook proper meals. There was also a good selection of basic ingredients (salt, pepper, herbs, spices etc.), though some tea bags would have been a welcome addition. The folder of information including lots of ideas for walks was really useful, and the sauna was great after a day out walking in the cold! There's no WiFi in the cottage, and we could only get 4G right by a couple of the windows. We actually enjoyed switching off and having time away from our phones. However, we did think this should be made explicit in the listing, as we tend to assume WiFi will be everywhere these days and on other occasions, had we needed to check in more with work, it could have been frustrating. We definitely recommend Sgeir a'Chais and would love to return one day.

A lovely welcome tray with local produce was a lovely touch to our 1 week stay Enjoyed some surrounding winter walks during our stay (mid november) both hilly ones and coastal (Brora to Golspie) Thank you for a relaxing stay
