Outstanding location, fantastic scenery. Lovely house. However there were a few points we would like to make. We did not feel it was as clean as it could have been, we found evidence of prior residents, such as hairs and debris in and around the bedrooms, bathrooms and furniture. Especially under the seats of the sofas there was crumbs and debris - this should be cleaned away - it had not been cleaned for a while and had built up. Parts of the house were dusty (stairs and floors ) and in need of a dust or clean - quite unacceptable really as its easy to do and in reach. Cobwebs and spiders in corners and behind beds etc. We do not have an issue with spiders but it was clear those areas were not inspected by the housekeeper.
In our opinion there could have been more utensils and cooking equipment in the kitchen, when away we like to cook and given the pandemic it was'nt easy to eat out so we ate in but we juggled a bit with what we had, a bit extra thought into what you can provide would be good and a few extra touches, also the outside area isnt ideal for outside relaxing, its a bit sparse and overgrown and an afterthought - it would be nice to have it made attractive and lawned so you could walk around a bit more and enjoy it.
However we enjoyed our stay and we had a lovely time and we would recommend it and would one day like to return.
We (my sister and I) were disappointed to be provided with only two bath towels for a week's stay. Owner most helpful, promptly provided more, but she said Unique Cottages had advised only one towel per person had to be provided! Also radiators required to be bled but we broke key trying unsuccessfully to bleed radiator in bathroom - we bought a replacement key but no luck with this one either, thus radiator remained cold. We would have felt safer with a rubber bath mat so had to take extra care when using shower.
It would be helpful to have a guide regarding which 'dustbins' took what - we had to open the lids to check contents.
On the plus side, we couldn't fault the owner of the property, Mrs Darling, who was friendly and responsive. She had generously provided milk, wine and water which were much appreciated.
Easy to deal with and completely trustworthy - so many frauds going on these days so its good to book with someone you know you can trust. Communications and guidance it excellent - don't hesitate to book from them.
this is a lovely, cosy and warm cottage and the photos of the view from the sitting room and main bedroom don't do justice to the awesome scenery. There is a lovely garden to sit out in and the location is pretty good too. On the whole, its very well equipped. For me, the only thing missing was a dishwasher
