This Grade A listed building is 1960s pure Modernist and was designed by the renowned architect Trevor Dannatt OBE. Fascinating artwork lines the walls and it has been filled with high quality art and antiques.
At the heart of the cottage is the large L-shaped sitting room that has a lovely open fire to sit around and a dining area that has been positioned by the window so the garden can be admired during meals. A door from the sitting room provides easy access out to the garden.
The spacious kitchen is very well-equipped with everything needed to create some culinary masterpieces with solid oak flooring and some delightful lighting effects.
A double and a twin bedroom are all set out on the one level and large windows ensure that they are light and bright throughout.
The cottage stands in the same group of buildings as Pitcorthie House, but faces away from the courtyard, with its own private garden to the front (with furniture) that is not overlooked and a patio area for enjoying evening drinks or al fresco meals.
First thing on the agenda is a trip to the gorgeous beach at Elie (3 miles) that just begs to be explored and is the perfect place to while away an afternoon strolling on the shore or just relaxing and enjoying the scenery.
Elie Bay is also a popular spot for watersports with wind surfing, canoeing and water skiing on offer, pedal boat and mountain bike hire and high speed boat trips for a bit of an adrenalin rush.
Golfing enthusiasts will be spoilt for choice here as there is a great 18 hole links course to try out at Elie that is set right on the coastline with amazing views to take in as you play. The historic St Andrews (10 miles), known as the ‘home of golf’, has some excellent courses and there are further courses along the coast at Anstruther (6 miles) and Crail (10 miles).
Elie has a good range of eateries to choose from with everything from a beach cafe to pub restaurants with fresh, local seafood being just one of the delights on offer.
The Fife Coastal Path will be an attraction for walkers and there are any number of interesting castles, stately homes, gardens and other places of interest to visit in the surrounding area.
