Inside, the heart of the house is the sitting/dining room that is light and bright with large windows and doors leading out to the garden’s patio area. The house is south-facing and this is made the most of in the spacious conservatory that has wonderful views from the glass gable end and a cosy wood-burning stove at its centre.
Bar stool seating around the central island in the chic, very well-equipped kitchen creates a great place to enjoy breakfast or relax with a drink in the evening. Also on this level is a handy downstairs shower room.
A twin bedroom, double room and master double bedroom with a superb king-size bed and handy en suite shower room are laid out upstairs, along with a stylish bathroom with both a shower and an attractive free-standing bath.
An outbuilding within the gated garden houses a games room and there is a lovely patio and a huge lawn with views of Ben Lomond off in the distance. Plenty of parking space is provided in the driveway to the front of the house and there is a ramp leading right up to the door. The house is set down 100 metres of rough private track that should be driven slowly and carefully.
The historic city of Stirling (13 miles) is only around 20 minutes’ drive away with imposing Stirling Castle dominating the skyline on the approach. Guided tours of the castle are available with fascinating insights into its history or there is an audio tour for who prefer to explore for themselves.
Stirling itself is a lively place with lots of shops, pubs and eateries to try out. Guided walking tours of the city allow for many of the attractions to be taken in at once and a trek up the 246 steps within the National Wallace Monument is certainly worthwhile for the stunning, panoramic views from the top.
Another interesting sight in the city is Stirling Old Town Jail that is interesting to visit to see how prisoners were treated back in the 1800s when it was called ‘the worst prison in Britain’. There is even the chance to experience an escape room where problem solving skills are required to escape the Governor’s Office within the allotted timeframe.
The site of the famous Battle of Bannockburn (14.5 miles) is just outside Stirling and its visitor centre now has an impressive 3D recreation of the famous conflict that is totally immersive.
Those with an interest in wildlife will enjoy a trip to Drummond Safari Park (10 miles) for a car tour around the extensive park that is home to over 300 animals including giraffes, zebras, tigers, lions and elephants amongst many, many others.
