The Sidings is a substantial, detached modern house that offers the best of both worlds, combining a peaceful, rural setting with the advantages of being in easy reach of the delights of the Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park.
Once inside, guests are welcomed by a light and airy, partly open plan layout which is ideal for socialising. At its heart is a very spacious sitting room with large windows that brighten it and glass doors that open out to the garden’s patio area.
The pleasant, south-facing aspect is made the most of in the sunroom where there is comfy seating around the cosy wood-burning stove at its centre. Meals can be enjoyed at the dining table right by the glass gable end of the room that showcases wonderful, virtually panoramic views across open fields towards towering Ben Lomond and the surrounding mountains.
Bar stool seating around the central island in the chic, very well-equipped kitchen creates a great place to enjoy breakfast or relax with a drink in the evening and there is also a handy downstairs shower room.
The attractive master suite upstairs has a superb king-size bed to stretch out on and a contemporary en suite shower room, while the second double room and twin room share a stylish bathroom with both a shower and a colourful, free-standing bath.
The adjoining garage provides secure storage and there is a lovely patio and huge lawn with views of Ben Lomond off in the distance. Plenty of parking space is provided in the driveway to the front of the house and there is a ramp leading right up to the door.
Stunning Loch Lomond is less than half an hour’s drive away with Loch Lomond Shores at Balloch (18.5 miles) being a hub for lots of activities, from shops and eateries to a fascinating aquarium and bird of prey centre. There is also the chance to take a boat tour with various cruises to choose from for further exploration of the loch.
Aberfoyle (8 miles) has a very scenic 18-hole golf course with a wonderful outlook of the Menteith hills to admire during play, followed by a pit stop in the clubhouse. Those seeking more of an adrenalin rush may prefer tackling the aerial adventure course on the outskirts of the village.
Another excellent golf course can be found in Callander (11 miles) and the nearby Bracklinn Falls are well worth taking a detour to visit whilst out and about exploring.
Stirling (13 miles) is a lively place with lots of shops, pubs and eateries to try out. A trek up the 246 steps within the National Wallace Monument is worthwhile for the beautiful, expansive vistas that can be taken in from the top. Stirling Old Town Jail, known as ‘the worst prison in Britain’ in the 1800s, now offers a fascinating insight into the prisoners’ treatment and has an escape room where problem solving skills are required to get out within the allotted timeframe.
The site of the famous Battle of Bannockburn (14.5 miles) is just outside Stirling and its visitor centre now has an impressive 3D recreation of the famous conflict that is totally immersive.
Those with an interest in wildlife will enjoy a trip to Drummond Safari Park (10 miles) for a car tour around the extensive park that is home to over 300 animals including giraffes, zebras, tigers, lions and elephants amongst many, many others.
