Enjoying a fantastic setting on the scenic southern shore of Loch Lomond is Claddochside, a spacious sanctuary tucked away in the Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park, near Drymen (5 miles).

The interior has been laid out open plan with distinctive areas for gathering around the wood-burning stove, whipping up delicious meals and savouring them at the lovely dining area with its large windows that frame the picturesque view out. Next to the dining table doors lead out to a pretty patio seating area.
From the living area an open staircase leads upstairs where the double and two twin bedrooms are bright and inviting with comfy beds and great views out towards Ben Arthur and Ben Lomond.
Doors from the sitting room lead through to a charming little separate wing that is set out downstairs with its own lounge and basic kitchen, as well as a bathroom and bedroom where the beds can be either super king-size or twin as required. As it also has its own separate entrance, it is the perfect place for relatives to holiday together with everyone whilst still having some peace and quiet to escape to.
Surrounding the house is an enclosed garden and three different sun terraces that all have garden seating for enjoying the view of the loch and gorgeous sunsets as the sun dips below the mountains.
It is just a short walk (approximately 140 metres) to the private sandy bay right on the loch shore for paddling or admiring the ever-changing scene out on the water. Access to the shore is via fields, over a stile and down some steps so it may not be suitable for those with mobility issues, although there is a core path that leads right down to a public beach area. Wildlife often visit the shoreline with pine martens, otters and even majestic ospreys regularly being spotted.
With so much to see and do right on the doorstep, guests are spoilt for choice as to what to do first with the many activities in the National Park at their fingertips.
Nearby Balloch (5 miles) has a wealth of attractions at Loch Lomond Shores from watersports to the fascinating aquarium and amazing bird of prey centre.
Plenty of pubs and eateries can also be found in Balloch, as well as a choice of shops and supermarkets. It is only a 45 minute train journey from Balloch’s station into Glasgow for a day trip spent shopping or taking in some of the city’s iconic sights.
From Balmaha further round the loch boat trips take visitors out to see the island of Incailloch that is full of history or try the walk up Conic Hill that is a good, family friendly hike with beautiful views from the summit.
Fans of the Outlander TV series may well want to see one of the filming locations for themselves. The Devil’s Pulpit in the Finnich Glen appeared in the first season. The red water of the Carnock Burn runs through this 100 foot deep gorge and is quite a sight to behold. It is a very slippery trek down to the gorge itself so suitable footwear should be worn and great care should be taken.
If a bit of pampering is in order then the spa at Cameron House is just the ticket with its indoor pool, sauna and hot tub. A round of golf can also be arranged on the stunning Carrick Golf Course there.
