A warm welcome awaits guests with an appealing, open plan living area that is the real hub of the house where everyone can gather and take advantage of the sociable layout that sees the kitchen, cosy seating and dining areas all in together. Dine right by the window to take in the view of the garden, or throw open the double doors onto the patio that wraps around the side of the house where the garden furniture is laid out for al fresco dining.
Off the hallway lie the two bright and airy bedrooms, a twin and a double room, both of which are classically presented in soothing tones and make use of the family bathroom. After time spent out and about exploring, wet coats and boots can be dried off in the porch storage area by the front door.
A gravelled area provides parking at the front of the house, with a lawned garden lying to the side. Safely tucked away behind the garden gate at the rear is an enclosed garden area that is the ideal place for children and pets to play. Luss Water is beyond the garden hedge, so it is possible to peek over and admire the water as it flows by and perhaps even spot some of the wildlife that likes to visit.
Forresters Cottage is set alongside its sister property Keepers Cottage, on the same site as the row where Lade Cottage, Weir Cottage and Millers Cottage sit, allowing a combination to be booked together for joint breaks with friends or family.
The cottages’ central location allows the village of Luss to easily be explored on foot as it is only a brief stroll away. The pier that juts out into the loch offers great views out over the water and is also the pickup point for various boat trips including a circular cruise with a very informative commentary.
The quaint Highland Arts gift shop by the pier is a good place to find some souvenirs to take home and the General Store in the village is stocked with a wide range of goodies with everything from traditional shortbread and tablet to local artwork, luxurious cashmere and fine tartans.
Little ones will love the Loch Lomond Faerie Trail, part of which runs right past the garden. This private woodland trail, which is dog friendly, winds amongst the trees with fairy houses, beautiful wooden carvings and other magical delights to look out for along the way. Be sure to pack the fairy wings!
To the south of the loch in Balloch (9 miles) there are plenty of shopping opportunities within the Loch Lomond Shores retail plaza where there are also a choice of eateries. Wildlife fans will want to discover the amazing variety of species in the Sealife Aquarium and the impressive falconry displays at the Bird of Prey Centre highlight the important conservation work that they carry out.
As Luss is set within the Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park the list of activities available to try out is almost endless with walking, hill climbing, wildlife spotting, mountain biking, fishing, rock climbing and watersports to name but a few.
