Overview

Those looking for a proper break away from it all will find the calming décor and warm welcome on offer here to be just the ticket. As everything is laid out to an open plan design downstairs, cooking, eating, relaxing or a combination of all three can take place all together in the same room.

The tartan theme follows through up the stairs to the stylish bedrooms and contemporary shower room. Sun streams into the double and twin bedrooms creating an inviting atmosphere and there are lovely views out over the garden particularly from the unusual low window in the double room.

Although it may be tempting to stay put once settled into the cosy accommodation the cottage’s prime position means that there is so much to see and do that a return trip will most likely be needed.

Plenty of space to run and play can be found in the garden to the rear that is used by sister properties Millers Cottage and Lade Cottage, which shares the entry deck. These can also be booked to accommodate larger parties of guests who may still want some of their own privacy.

Map & Local

Luss is a conservation village that is very pretty to wander around or follow the Luss Heritage Trail, a 1 mile long circular route that takes in the sandy beach, looping round through delightful woodland and along the scenic banks of Luss Water.

Further exploration of the loch has been made very easy with waterbuses and cruises departing from the pier offering a choice of destinations including some of the islands within the loch such as Inchcailloch and Inchmurrin.

It is possible to stand up paddleboard from the beach by the pier so it is a great chance to try a new activity for first timers or hone the skills for those who are more experienced. Wet suit hire is available in order to keep warm in the sometimes rather chilly waters and the view of Ben Lomond, which can also be admired from the beach, is even more impressive from the water.

At the Loch Lomond Golf Club (2 miles) a round will certainly be a memorable experience as the course is set against the wonderful backdrop of the loch with views to die for. It is so close to the water in fact that a crashed speed boat once ended up in one of the bunkers!

From Tarbet (8 miles) up the loch to the north the Arrochar Alps range can be tackled. As their name suggests, these five main peaks are not the easiest to climb but the experience of seeing the surrounding mountains peeking out above the clouds is one that is hard to beat.
