Overview

Immediately on arrival it is clear how much care and attention has been put into creating the ultimate holiday home with chic, stylish furnishings and a soothing atmosphere. This is particularly evident in the sitting room where the fire dancing in the wood-burning stove nicely sets the tone for a relaxing break.

All the required mod cons can be found in the kitchen where there is a huge induction range, built-in fridge and freezer and not one but two dishwashers, as well as the convenience of having the very comfy dining room just alongside next door. It may be hard to pick the perfect spot to settle in the snuggly TV room, although stretching out a chaise longue right by the wood-burning stove is sure to be a temptation. A handy double bedroom with a gorgeous shower room off it and a utility room with laundry facilities are also set out downstairs.

In the incredibly spacious master double bedroom upstairs the star of the show is the beautiful king-size, four-poster bed and there is a further delightful addition in the form of its contemporary en suite bathroom. It is bright and airy with a walk-in, rainfall shower and a lovely free-standing bath tub and the indoor accommodation is completed by a bunk room with its own en suite shower room.

The charming sound of the Cluny Burn flowing past can be heard from the patio where seating is nestled around the fire pit with views over the burn. A large lawn lies to the side of the house, plenty of parking is provided and pretty walks lead off into the surrounding woodland. Care must be taken, especially with children, as there is a pond within the grounds (with a steep drop alongside) as well as the burn, which is unfenced with steep steps leading down to it.

Map & Local

Fishing can be arranged nearby or, if a rather less sedate activity is preferred, there is the chance to try white water rafting on the River Tay which is an experience that is not easily forgotten.

Whisky lovers will want to see the home of one of well known Dewar’s whisky at its distillery just outside Aberfeldy (5 miles) where a choice of tours can be booked. A particular favourite is the whisky and chocolate tasting tour that pairs chocolate with the different drams in the comfort of the whisky lounge.

The Birks of Aberfeldy (5 miles) walk allows the Falls of Moness to be admired, which are really impressive when they swell after heavy rainfall. It may be surprising to come across the commemorative sculpture of Robert Burns on the bench by the water but the walk is actually named after the song that he wrote after being inspired by the wonderful falls.

Experienced guides at Beyond Adventure (5 miles) lead a wide range of outdoor activities with mountain biking and canoeing/kayaking on offer as well as gorge walking, hiking and paddle boarding, so there is something to suit all tastes and skill levels.

It is under an hour’s drive into Perth (30 miles) where, in addition to finding a great range of shops and places to stop for food, historic landmarks such as the 12th century Scone Palace and the 15th century Huntingtower Castle can be visited.
