Silverburn Cottage is a stylish, detached cottage offering spacious accommodation with wonderful views out over the surrounding countryside, near Fortingall (3 miles) in Perthshire.

The cottage is very light and airy throughout and in particular the sitting room with its large gable end windows is very bright and welcoming. Cosy seating has been placed around the wood-burning stove and there is a choice of places to eat with a dining area in the sitting room and an additional breakfasting area in the kitchen. The kitchen is equipped with everything needed to cook up some delights and also has access right out to the garden.
Three steps lead up to the bedrooms and modern bathroom that has both a bath and a separate shower. Picture windows in the spacious and bright master double bedroom (king-size) showcase the lovely view out over the valley and there is also a delightful family room with a double bed (king-size) and a single bed.
Beautiful views out over the River Lyon and Tay Valleys can be enjoyed from the enclosed grassed garden that birds, red squirrels and even pine martens have been known to visit. There is a steep drop to a small burn to the side of the cottage, but this is beyond the fenced garden area.
Access to the cottage is via a rough track that should be driven slowly and carefully.
Right on the doorstep is the Keltneyburn Nature Reserve, a pretty grassland meadow that is home to lots of butterflies, damselflies and dragonflies, as well as gorgeous flora including eight different species of orchid.
Fortingall (3 miles) is a pretty wee village that is known for its oldest resident, the famous Fortingall Yew tree that stands in the churchyard and is said to be around 5,000 years old! Its importance to national heritage was even recognised by the Queen as part of her Golden Jubilee celebrations when she designated it as one of 50 ‘Great British Trees’.
Stop off at the Fortingall Hotel for a drink or a delicious meal with the choice of either bar food or a la carte dining featuring lots of fresh, local produce. Bikes can also be hired from the hotel for exploring the area further on two wheels.
Walkers will find plenty to occupy them with walking straight from the door and several munros and corbetts in easy reach. For those looking for a real challenge there is also the impressive Ben Lawers (12 miles) to tackle, the highest mountain in the southern part of the Highlands that takes between 4 and 6 hours to climb (up and back) with amazing panoramic views to admire from the summit.
The Mains of Taymouth Stables (4 miles) at the head of Loch Tay offers horse riding catering for everyone from beginners to experienced riders and the reconstructed crannog that sits out on the loch at the Scottish Crannog Centre (5 miles) is interesting to visit for an insight into early Iron Age life and demonstrations of ancient crafts.
Aberfeldy (6 miles) is the nearest place for supermarket shopping, although there is a small local shop just half a mile away. Those looking for an adrenalin rush can try out paintball, canyoning or white water rafting on the River Tay through Splash White Water Rafting just outside Aberfeldy.

Bed linen and towels are INCLUDED. The first £25 of electricity is INCLUDED with any additional usage payable at the end of your stay. Heating is by oil central heating (first £25 INCLUDED with any additional payable at the end of your stay), partial underfloor electric heating and wood-burning stove (logs available at £5 per bag). Water is from a private source which is UV filtered and regularly tested; however (as is typical in many parts of Scotland) it can become discoloured particularly after heavy rainfall. Guests may therefore prefer to bring bottled water to drink. A maximum of 2 dogs are welcome (2 large, 2 medium or 2 small). No smoking.
