If ever a house could be said to have a split personality, then Robin's Rye is it. It has a commanding hillside position in the little village of Fearnan above Loch Tay, with superb views down across the loch.

From the outside, it looks like a perfectly attractive wooden lodge. It is only when you get inside that you see that it really is 'something else' and the wooden lodge impression goes right out of the window!
The designer-owner has certainly worked her magic here. A large, state-of-the-art dining kitchen leads through to a night and day sitting area, the 'day' part with floor to ceiling plate glass windows overlooking the garden, and the 'night' part cosy and perfect for curling up with your favourite TV programme or a good book. From here too, patio doors lead to a little extension which overhangs the garden, where you could relax over breakfast or an evening drink, whilst watching the sun go down.
There are three excellent bedrooms, two double and a twin. The master is en suite and again has patio doors to another dressing room extension. There are also two further bath or shower rooms - so there is one for each bedroom. Furniture and fittings throughout are of the highest quality.
There is plenty of off-road parking at the door and extensive gardens (with furniture) slope down to the front. These are shared with its sister property Braeside Cottage, which is in the same location but is completely separate. This truly is a unique and very memorable cottage.
Fearnan has a gallery and pottery within walking distance of the cottage. It is also a very central base for seeing some of the best of Scotland.
4 miles to the east is the pretty village of Kenmore (with shops and hotels), where a visit to the Crannog Centre should not be missed.
At the other end of the loch Killin (with all facilities) is a popular tourist village, bisected by the impressive Falls of Dochart. From there it is an easy drive westwards to Oban and the west coast or south to the Trossachs.
In Aberfeldy, a few miles beyond Kenmore, you can visit the local distillery, the pretty Birks (a wooded glen with waterfalls), the Watermill bookshop and cafe, or continue east to Pitlochry with its Festival Theatre and the A9 taking you to Perth or Inverness. Alternatively, you can turn south through the lovely Sma' Glen to Crieff.
The surrounding hills offer endless opportunities for walking and for spotting the local wildlife of buzzards, golden eagles, peregrines, deer, etc. Nearby Drummond Hill has been the site for the re-introduction of the ptarmigan, so look out for these as well! For a tougher challenge, Ben Lawers, just along the loch, awaits you. Of course Loch Tay is famous for its watersports, so bring your canoe, kayak or windsurfer.
