Canmore House is a contemporary detached house set in a lovely enclosed garden down a quiet lane in the picturesque village of Braemar, right in the heart of the Cairngorms National Park.

Guests are welcomed by a bright and airy entrance hall that simply hints at the beautifully presented, charming accommodation that is to come. Meals can be whipped up with some of the local produce in the large, well-equipped kitchen with its useful little breakfast bar. This open plan room flows through a snug area with comfy sofas and on to the sunroom where the dining table has been set up to allow the garden to be admired during meals. French doors then lead out to a sun trap terrace with further seating to enjoy the garden from.
Snug evenings in can be spent together curled up around the wood-burning stove in the cosy sitting room. French doors flood the spacious room with light and open out onto the garden, effectively ‘bringing the outdoors in’. There is a handy WC on this level as well as the added luxury of toasty underfloor heating.
In the elegant master double bedroom upstairs there is a king-size bed to stretch out on and a modern en suite shower room with a walk-in shower. There are then two further attractive double bedrooms and a neat single bedroom that make use of a family bathroom.
Plenty of off-street parking is right by the front door and there is also a garage that is ideal for storing bikes or other sporting equipment. The pretty garden is set out to the rear of the house and, as it is fully enclosed, it is great for both children and pets.
It is only a 5-minute stroll into the centre of Braemar where the range of interesting little shops just beg to be explored and there are some truly authentic Highland souvenirs on offer. There is also a small grocery shop, various pubs and eateries and bike hire available.
One of the main things that the village is known for is the Braemar Gathering that is held there annually. Highland games, dancing and music all come together at this event every September, drawing in spectators from far and wide. It is even attended by Her Majesty the Queen as well as other members of the royal family, so visitors are certainly in good company.
Golfers will want to try out the 18 hole golf course in Braemar that is actually the UK’s highest golf course and is surrounded by impressive scenery that can be appreciated whilst playing. Guided tours can be taken around the enthralling 17th century Braemar Castle for history enthusiasts.
The snowsports hub at Glenshee (9 miles) is in easy reach for days spent out on the slopes and, as there are 36 different runs, there is something to suit all ages and abilities. There are ski lessons for novices and the outlook over the mountains throughout the resort is absolutely stunning.
Hill walkers will find lots to keep them occupied within the Cairngorms National Park and as there are over 50 different munros within the park there is plenty of scope for tackling some munro ‘bagging’ too. Those on the whisky trail will enjoy a visit to the Royal Lochnager Distillery (10 miles) for one of their fascinating distillery tours.
