This is just the place for a seaside holiday as it is right opposite the shore and also in easy walking distance of the local pubs and eateries. At the heart of the house is a spacious sitting room with L-shaped seating to curl up on and a wood-burning stove that keeps it nice and cosy.
The dining kitchen has a colourful Aga that is a joy to cook on and a huge farmhouse dining table sits alongside. Glass doors from the kitchen open up to create a semi-open plan layout with the sitting room and there is a games room with a pool table on this level that both children and adults are sure to love!
All of the bedrooms are laid out upstairs to make the most of the elevated views. The master double bedroom is roomy and bright with an outlook over the water and a large en suite bathroom with both a bath and a separate walk-in shower. There is a second double bedroom, a twin bedroom and a neat single room that share a shower room with a huge, walk-in shower.
To the front of the house is a private, gravelled seating area looking right out towards the water that is the perfect place to relax and watch the world go by or admire the boats bobbing away in the distance. At the rear is a pretty, suntrap courtyard with further seating that is lovely and sheltered. Luggage can be unloaded right at the door and parking can usually be found on the roadside by the house.
As the beach is practically on the doorstep a fair amount of time is bound to be spent wandering along the sands, beachcombing and enjoying the amazing views that are to be had all around. Wildlife boat trips run out from the harbour for those wanting a closeup look at the resident seals and dolphins.
Findhorn Bay is a local nature reserve with an amazing array of birdlife that will keep twitchers very busy indeed. Oystercatchers, curlews, sandpipers, redshanks and ducks all make good use of the rich, tidal wetlands to search for food.
There is a shop and a couple of pubs that serve food in Findhorn, but for supermarket shopping Forres (5 miles) is the place to head to. It also has a train station that allows for exploration further afield without having to take the car along.
History enthusiasts will enjoy visiting Brodie Castle (9 miles) that dates all the way back to 1567. Tours of the inside of the fascinating castle and its impressive art collection are available and children will adore the playful garden and, in particular, the giant bunny sculpture!
Anyone who is fond of a wee dram will want to take a self-guided tour around Dhu Distillery (7 miles) that is now a interactive museum offering great insight into the distillation process. Tours are followed by a tasting in the bar and a look around the gift shop for some souvenirs.
