Sandpiper Cottage is a pretty seaside retreat set in a lovely spot just a 5-minute stroll from a wonderful long stretch of sandy beach, in the village of Findhorn on the scenic Moray coast.

Inside, in the attractive sitting room the wood-burning stove just begs to be curled up in front of, especially after days spent out enjoying the refreshing sea air. The bright, contemporary kitchen is equipped with everything required for whipping up meals and has a little breakfasting area that supplements the charming dining/sunroom.
A little utility nook in the porch by the front door houses the laundry facilities. The modern shower room with its large walk-in shower is downstairs along with a twin bedroom with bunk beds that children and adults alike are sure to adore.
Upstairs are the two other bedrooms, a single and a double, that have plenty of storage and views out over the village. A neat modern family bathroom with a bath and useful hand shower completes the indoor accommodation.
To the front of the cottage is a small enclosed garden that is safe for children and pets. Free parking is available on the main street nearby and, as the cottage is accessed via an unsurfaced footpath, care should be taken.
Findhorn’s wonderful sandy beach is sure to be top of everyone’s agenda whatever the weather. There are a couple of excellent pub/restaurants to try in the village, as well as a small grocery shop. Boat trips can be boarded from the marina for a close-up look at the local wildlife including impressive minke whales and basking sharks.
Visitor permits for salmon fishing on the lower River Findhorn can be bought from the Post Office. Those wanting to explore further afield can hire bikes from the holiday park or tackle part of the Moray Coast walking trail that runs from Forres across to Buckie.
Forres (5.5 miles) is the place to head for supermarket shopping or a round on the well-maintained, 18 hole golf course at Forres Golf Club where visitors are welcomed and buggy hire is offered.
At the Culbin Forest (11.5 miles) picturesque walking/cycling paths meander through the woods with various pools and ponds to admire. There is plenty of wildlife to look out for along the way and at one of the pools there is even the chance to see otters!
Nature lovers will also enjoy a visit to the RSPB Culbin Sands Nature Reserve that stretches right along the coastline towards Nairn. Wading birds such as oystercatchers, curlews and sandpipers can be seen along the shoreline and seals and dolphins can often be spotted out in the water.
