Overview

Marine Cottage is a charming coastal cottage that remains cosy with underfloor heating throughout the ground floor and the addition of the central woodburning stove in the open plan living space.

Converted from a traditional cottage, a modern extension has been added to provide extra comfort. A shower room and WC greet guests upon entrance, with the Velux window in the walk-in shower, bringing in the natural light. The open plan kitchen and sitting area is a lovely space to lounge with family and friends. The neat galley kitchen has the extra additions of a dishwasher and a Lavazza coffee machine. The open plan offers plenty of space to gaze out to the wonderful view of Findhorn Bay and makes for a quiet evening in, nestled next to the wood-burning stove. The property is stylishly decorated throughout with original paintings and photographs highlighting the cottages’ nautical theme.

The downstairs double bedroom holds a super king-size, zip and link bed for guest comfort and convenience. This room also has plenty of storage space and a dressing table. The tidy utility space is adjacent to the bedroom and has ample supplies. The second ground-floor shower room is next and features a large walk-in shower, WC and sink.

Upstairs, guests are led to two rooms. A spacious bathroom, and on the opposite end, the second double room with a low-level king-size bed and a wonderful south-east-facing view, with hanging and storage space available in the hallway.

Parking at Marine Cottage is on the street just outside the front of the cottage.

Map & Local

Tucked away on the Morayshire coastline, most of your time at Marine Cottage will be filled with coastal adventures. Visit the array of beautiful beaches, walk from Findhorn Beach to Roseisle Beach, the boundary of which is covered by a wonderful forestry plantation.

The River Findhorn offers white water rafting and cliff jumping, or slow down and try your hand at salmon fishing on the river, permits are available on FishPal or the Forrest Angling Association website. Find more sea life along the Moray coastline and keep an eye out for dolphins, seals, porpoises, minke whales and basking sharks. Hire a bike from Forres and join in on the NCN 1 Cycle route, which passes just below Findhorn. Take your dog for a walk on the excellent tracks in nearby Culbin forest or visit the forest’s RSPB nature reserve.

The local Golf club in Forres (5 miles), Covesea Links course (14 miles), Moray Golf Club (16 miles) and Nairn Golf Club (16 miles) are all brilliant courses. While in Nairn, explore Cawdor Castle and wander the grounds, gardens and nature trails. Those keen to spot dolphins can also head to Chanonry Point (around 45 miles), where, if you’re lucky, you’ll not only see the dolphins but will be metres away from them as they feed in the channel.

Visit Brodie Castle & Estate, a National Trust for Scotland site, around 8 miles away. Logie Steading (12 miles) has a cafe, farm and garden shop, bookshop, art gallery, plenty to keep you occupied, then take the Randolph’s Leap walk from the site, passing stunning scenery and wildlife.

Many nearby ruins can be explored during your stay, Duffus Castle, Elgin Cathedral, Spynie Palace or Sueno’s Stone, the fascinating 7m tall Pictish cross-slab, all with hundreds of years of history to uncover.

All the local amenities and activities of the charming village of Findhorn are on your doorstep. The Kimberley Inn Pub offers brilliant seafood and locally sourced produce, with splendid views out the front terrace and on colder days, the log fire is the perfect meal companion.
