Sleeping up to six guests in three bedrooms — two doubles and a twin — the cottage is spacious and beautifully furnished throughout. Designed to make the most of its setting, one of the living areas is on the upper level, maximising the sea views. Outside, there is a detached laundry room with washing machine and a separate boiler room (gas central heating) for bike and wetsuit storage.
Downstairs, a second living room with a TV provides a quiet escape. The kitchen/dining room is ideal for meals and gatherings, featuring an electric hob, oven, fridge-freezer, and built-in dishwasher — though the sea view from the sink makes washing up a pleasure. The dining area has a large table, a TV, and armchairs for extra relaxation. Also on this level is one of the two double bedrooms, which benefits from an en-suite toilet, ideal for those with mobility concerns.
Upstairs, the first-floor living room offers comfortable seating, a large TV, and a powerful spotting scope to make the most of the coastal vistas. The master bedroom leads off this space and includes an en-suite shower room/WC and a large walk-in wardrobe. Also on this level are the third bedroom (a twin) and a spacious family bathroom with bath and separate shower.
Outside, guests are perfectly placed to play a round of golf or to explore the rugged coastline and sandy beaches of this stunning part of Scotland. A scenic coastal path runs past the cottage, offering easy walks with panoramic sea views. The area is rich in wildlife, with sightings of seals, whales, dolphins, and birdlife. The RSPB Loch of Strathbeg is perfect for birdwatchers, and there are fantastic walking trails nearby for all abilities.
In summary, Seaside Escape is a peaceful retreat in a breathtaking coastal spot, ideal for slowing down, breathing in the fresh sea air, and enjoying this beautiful corner of Scotland.
As peaceful as it is, Inverallochy is just 4 miles from the bustling fishing port of Fraserburgh, which offers a variety of shops, restaurants, and highly rated fish and chip shops. It’s also a great spot to watch the boats come and go.
Fraserburgh is home to the Museum of Scottish Lighthouses, which explores the history of these seafarers’ beacons. The museum, which closes in winter, sits beside Kinnaird Head Castle, site of Scotland’s first lighthouse, built in 1787. It also tells the story of the Stevenson family, who constructed 93 lighthouses over 150 years—including Treasure Island author Robert Louis Stevenson.
Back in Inverallochy, Maggie’s Hoosie is a tiny cottage where local fisherwoman Maggie Duthie lived without electricity or running water until her death in 1950. Now a museum, it offers a glimpse into the tough lives of past generations. Check opening times before visiting.
Film buffs may enjoy a trip to Pennan (15 miles), a key location in the 1980s classic Local Hero. Visitors often stop for a photo at the village’s famous red telephone box, which featured heavily in the film and is now a listed building.
Golfers will love Inverallochy Golf Course, a true hidden gem with its first tee just yards from the cottage. This 18-hole links course, just over 5,000 yards long, features six par 3s, stunning scenery, and some of the best greens in Scotland. Guests at Seaside Escape receive a 25% discount on green fees.
A pebble beach lies just across the road from the cottage, and for those seeking sandy shores, there are excellent options nearby. About a mile west, Waters of Philorth Beach and Nature Reserve marks the southern end of a long bay leading to Fraserburgh. Backed by dunes, this rare estuarine habitat attracts waders, wildfowl, and seabirds. Fraserburgh Beach, 4 miles away, offers golden sands, great for walking, swimming, and winter surfing. Further west, Rosehearty Beach provides a quieter coastal escape, while to the east, Rattray Beach offers dramatic views and the striking offshore Rattray Head Lighthouse.
Whether you’re after a nature walk, a swim, or a surf session, the Inverallochy coastline has something for everyone.
