Coldwells Croft boasts a variety of rooms where you can cosy up by the wood burner, lounge in the dayroom, or relax in your own private sauna, in the peace and quiet of Aberdeenshire countryside.
Kick off boots and coats in the handy boot room at the entrance before making your way through to the day/sunroom at the front of the property, which highlights the sublime scenery and wandering deer and foxes. From here, French doors can take you to either the garden or the cosy lounge.
Into the lounge, there’s plenty of room for nestling by the wood-burning stove after long days exploring the area. The well-equipped dining room/ kitchen area features a larder fridge, ample seating, and another cosy wood burner.
A spacious bathroom is found on the ground floor, as well as a separate WC and open walk-in shower/ wet room. The cottage boasts an electric sauna to relax in after cold-water swimming or days of adventure in the Aberdeenshire countryside.
Upstairs, both rooms feature south-facing windows showcasing stunning views over the vast valley below. The bedroom has a king-size bed, and the separate dressing room is equipped with plenty of hanging storage and seating to admire the impressive vistas.
The enclosed, secure garden is great for letting your dog stretch its legs or perching on the provided seating. Though Coldwells Croft isn’t recommended for small children, as there is a stream that passes through the back of the grounds.
The garage is accessible to guests for bike/outdoor and log storage, and ample private parking for two can be found just outside the property.
The nearby village of Alford is just 5 miles away and has plenty of local activities and amenities to enjoy. For history lovers, there are both the Alford Heritage Centre and the award-winning Grampian Transport Museum to explore. Alford has its own dry ski slope, or in the winter, take to The Lecht (33 miles), a brilliant ski centre.
The newly furnished restaurant at The Haughton Arms promises a good range of traditional Scottish food to feast on. The Alford Bistro is also very popular and delicious, offering both sit-in and takeaway options. The Forbes Arms Hotel restaurant is set on the banks of the River Don. For finer dining, the Kildrummy Inn is recommended in the Michelin Guide and offers delicious food and its own whisky snug and bar.
Walk from Coldwells Croft and follow the Gordon Way over hilltops through forest, farmland and moorlands passing old peat extraction routes in the Bennachie forests.
