Knockanbuie Cottage is a true Highland gem! It is a picture-book, traditional, stone cottage, standing alone in its own acre of garden (with furniture and BBQ).
Quick Info

It is set amid trees and above a quiet country road, yet within a couple of minutes drive of the A95 Grantown on Spey (10 miles) to Elgin road. It looks out across the valley of the legendary whisky and salmon river, the Spey, and is therefore well placed for outdoor pursuits and for exploring this wonderful Highland area.
Within its thick stone walls, Knockanbuie is not only extremely snug, comfortable and well-appointed, but will surely be one of the most characterful holiday homes you could wish for. There is a spacious farmhouse style breakfasting kitchen, an elegant beamed dining room with open fire which would not disgrace many a Highland shooting lodge, the cosiest of sitting rooms with a wood-burning stove and a bathroom and shower/utility room.
The upstairs layout is great fun. One very steep companion way/staircase leads from the sitting room up to an open twin bedded room, which older children in particular will love.
A further conventional stairway lead up from the kitchen to a double bedroom with a king size bed, a further double bedroom and a WC. The accommodation here is most versatile as well as comfortable.
Video Walkthrough
The Speyside Way runs close by the cottage, so walkers are well catered for. Whisky enthusiasts will scarcely know where to turn, with so many top-class distilleries on the doorstep offering tours and tastings.
There are plenty of golf courses here and you can be on the sandy beaches of the sunny Moray coast in under an hour, where you can also visit the many quaint fishing villages, the site of the Battle of Culloden, or Inverness itself (47 miles). Take a cruise on Loch Ness while you are there.
To the south, lie Aviemore (25 miles with quad bikes, ice rink and lots of fun things for all the family), Rothiemurchus (with pony trekking, mountain biking, etc) and Loch Morlich (with excellent sailing) should not be missed. You can take the mountain railway up the Cairngorm and steam enthusiasts will enjoy the Strathspey Steam Railway which runs between Grantown and Aviemore. Broomhill Station, on that line, was used in the filming of the television series 'Monarch of the Glen'.
There is, of course, skiing both on the Cairngorm and at the Lecht ski resort (28 miles). There are hotels, a petrol station and PO at Ballindalloch (5 miles), while the nearest centre for main shopping is Grantown on Spey (10 miles).
