Overview

The cottage is on a quiet country road, but is easily accessible from the A95 from Grantown. It stands in its own large, enclosed grass and gravel garden (with furniture, BBQ and plenty of parking) with expansive views over the surrounding countryside. Those who have enjoyed a holiday at nearby Knockanbuie Cottage will be reassured to know that Moor Cottage belongs to the same owner and she has worked her magic here once again.

Inside, the house is cosy and welcoming and with the large sitting room for evenings and colder times and the equally spacious sun room for brighter days, guests have plenty of choice of where to take up residence. The sitting room has an open fire to keep it cosy and is L-shaped to a spacious dining area. It also has French doors out to that magnificent conservatory sun room which extends all the way along one side of the house and has doors out to the garden.

The large and very well-equipped farmhouse style dining kitchen features an enormous fridge-freezer so there will be no need to keep running back and forward to the shops and the long dining table affords plenty of space for relaxed eating.

All on one level there are four bedrooms, two doubles, a twin and a single room. The bedrooms are all of a very good size and most attractively presented. The master double room has en suite facilities (with bath and separate shower, no less) and there is also a family bathroom so the practical side of things is well covered as well. The layout of the accommodation is very versatile indeed.

Map & Local

The walking in the surrounding area is second to none - the Speyside Way runs close by and you can explore the Cromdale Hills to the south or climb Ben Rinnes, which dominates the valley.

For skiing, you are almost equidistant between the Cairngorm at Aviemore and the Lecht Ski areas. Other famous attractions of the area will be familiar to many - the Spey is one of the foremost salmon fishing rivers in the country (though there are plenty of other less prestigious but equally enjoyable rivers and lochans for trout fishing).

Here you are in Glenlivet, with all that the name means to lovers of the 'water of life'. The distillery itself is within 10 miles of Moor Cottage and is one of many along the Whisky Trail where you can go and sample the wares.

To the north, there is the Moray coast with its pretty fishing villages, sandy beaches and opportunities to spot dolphins, seals and even the occasional whale. This area teems with wildlife with wonderful forest parks over by Rothiemurchus, while a visit to the osprey hide at Boat of Garten is a must for those with even a passing interest in birds. To the south east is lovely Royal Deeside, with a selection of castles, stately homes and gardens to visit.
