Ross & Cromarty
Ross and Cromarty is another of these large, loosely defined counties of Scotland which stretches from the Black Isle in the East to Skye in the west (where it is divided into Easter and Wester Ross). The Black Isle is not an island at all, but a peninsula between the Moray and Cromarty Firths, famous for its birdlife and lovely, peaceful scenery. Red kites have recently been reintroduced in the area, while Munlochy Bay is famous for the wading birds which congregate there.

Lots to Explore
On its south coast, Rosemarkie and Fortrose are pretty villages beside the prime dolphin-watching site at Chanonry Point. The village of Cromarty, at the end of the peninsula, has a sandy beach and is one of the most enchanting and picturesque villages in the whole of Scotland. The Black Isle Brewery near Bogallan is also well worth a visit!
Easter Ross encompasses the peninsula on the other shore of the Cromarty Firth where you will find the town of Tain, home of the Glenmorangie whisky distillery.

|01-Apr-2020||Pebble Coast FL9 (overall)||I have booked with Unique Cottages twice. Having fallen in love with the Scottish Highlands I had thought that I would be a regular customer. However, the way they have handled my booking as a result of the lockdown caused by Covid-19 is shocking. I was due to stay in one of their Scottish Cottages on 4th April for 7 days. As travel is not allowed at this time then it is not possible for me to stay there. After speaking to them my only option was to pay £25 to change the dates of my stay. I asked if they would reimburse me my payment for the house less the deposit as I had already paid in full. However, they would not do this. They said the £25 was to make sure they could still pay their staff and caretakers and cover other overheads. My new booking is for the same week in 2021. I think it is unfair that they should be able to keep all of my money for 12 months and charge me £25 to move the dates when the reason for needing to change the dates is through no fault of my own and due to circumstances beyond my control. Everyone is struggling in the Covid-19 situation. Unique Cottages seem to be treating their customers with little respect and foresight with how this might affect their business in the long term.|
