Overview

The Weavers, near Rogart is a quintessentially traditional highland cottage that is set at the base of Dalmore Rock and was constructed out of Dalmore granite. Nestled on the outskirts of Pittentrail, it provides the ideal starting point for exploration of both the east coast on its doorstep and delving deeper into the scenic Sutherland countryside. The seaside resort town of Dornoch is just a 20 minute drive away, and only a 14 minute drive from the Loch Fleet Nature Reserve.

The owners of this traditional Highland croft house, which dates back to the mid-1800s, have carefully renovated it whilst managing to preserve all of its charm and numerous wonderful original features.

At the heart of the cosy sitting room is an impressive granite fireplace that is now equipped with a coal effect stove where the black range and hub of family life would once have been. Off the hallway is the kitchen, which is fitted with all modern conveniences and cleverly incorporates a dining area and breakfast bar to help streamline meal times.

Additionally, the hallway provides access to a spacious bathroom with both a walk-in shower and free-standing, claw-footed bath for a luxury soak. The comfortable double and twin bedrooms upstairs have lovely views and original wooden coombed ceilings that accentuate the character of the cottage. There is also a little reading snug for those seeking a quiet space to catch up on that long-neglected novel.

Outside is a delightful patio seating area with a great view of Dalmore Rock and the choice of outdoor dining furniture and a charming swing seat in the open garden. The River Fleet flows by at the bottom of the garden with a footbridge and footpath up to the road into the village, or alternatively follow the signs for the round Rogart walk.

Immerse yourself in the untouched beauty of Sutherland and all it has to offer. Whether you are into hiking, wild swimming, birdwatching, golfing, visiting historic castles or whiskey distilleries – The Weavers Cottage is the ideal base to explore this beautiful part of the world.
