Fern Lodge highlights its serene location through large windows and sliding doors, which open to the peaceful outdoors. Outside, you’ll also find the sunken hot tub, ideal for relaxing in after a day exploring the Scottish countryside.
Guests are welcomed by an open-plan kitchen and lounge area that mixes cosy living and convenience. Cook up a hearty meal in the tidy and well-equipped kitchen and dine in on the convertible table dining/ coffee table. Slide open the patio doors for increased space or coorie into your lodge in front of the TV for an evening indoors.
Make your way through to the bedroom and drift off in the comfy double bed. The bedroom features a beautiful window that highlights the majestic woodland outside the lodge. A convenient vanity area, ample hanging storage and a neat en suite serve guests staying at Fern Lodge.
Relax in the outdoor seating area, where you can dine al fresco or stargaze from the swing seats, accompanied by the sounds of the countryside. The fire pit is the perfect addition for colder nights outdoors or spend the evening cooking up a storm on the provided barbecue and watching the dog play in the garden space.

Situated in Lauder with the Southern Upland Way on your doorstep, there are many beautiful countryside adventures to embark on from Fern Lodge. The Borders Abbeys Way is a great route for discovering the rich history and variety of Abbeys in the Borders. Scott’s View is nearby and showcases the beautiful scenery of the Borders that once fascinated Sir Walter Scott. As well as Scott’s View, his home, Abbotsford House, lies just 9.5 miles away.
Thirlestane Castle (open seasonally) and Lauderdale Estate are just 2 miles away and are wonderful attractions to visit during your stay in Fern Lodge. Birds Garden Scotland CIC (6 miles) has a fantastic variety of animals to visit, from cranes, parrots, emus, flamingos, to snakes, tortoise and wallabies, a brilliant conservation site.
Stay active at the 9-hole parkland golf course in Lauder, or at one of the many golf options in the Scottish Borders. Try Melrose Golf Club for another 9-hole golf course, with the added luxury of wonderful views, as it is situated at the bottom of the Eildon Hills.
Find your next meal at the Spotty Dog Delicatessen on the main street in Lauder. The Black Bull Hotel Restaurant and The Lauderdale, both in Lauder, offer delicious dining.
For a relaxing break, head to Schloss Roxburghe (23 miles) for an afternoon of peaceful bliss.
The nearby picturesque towns of Melrose (9 miles) and Kelso (19 miles) are ideal for a visit to bakeries for a sweet treat and plenty of food options for meals out. Try Scott’s of Kelso for their tasty bistro or butchers and return to Fern Lodge with food ready to cook for a delicious supper.
The Berwickshire coastline is accessible in less than an hour’s drive, Coldingham Bay (34 miles) or nearby St. Abbs Harbour are both worthwhile trips to find an array of sealife and stunning views out to the North Sea.
Edinburgh City Centre is accessible in under an hour by car or train from the station at Galashiels (9 miles).

Bed linen and towels are INCLUDED. The first £20 of electricity is INCLUDED with any additional usage payable by meter reading at the end of your stay. Heating is by gas central heating (INCLUDED). WiFi is INCLUDED. Water is from a private source which is UV filtered and regularly tested; however (as is typical in many parts of Scotland) it can be discoloured, particularly after heavy rainfall. Guests may therefore prefer to bring bottled water to drink. A maximum of 1 dog is welcome at an additional charge (1 large, 1 medium or 1 small). No smoking.
