So Much to See and Do

To the south is the Solway Firth, famous as a haven for wetland birds, while the area is also well known as a stopping off point for migrating geese. There are many lovely destinations to visit, such as Sweetheart Abbey and Caerlaverock Castle and, near Thornhill, there is Drumlanrig Castle. The area has several superb mountain biking trails and in the north of the county the Southern Upland Way provides excellent walking.
