Mossdale boasts sea views throughout, a cosy wood-burning stove in the open-plan sitting room/dining room and ample space for lounging with loved ones after days of coastal wandering.
The entrance hallway leads to a vast utility space, great for storing bikes, golf clubs/ outdoor equipment, or letting the dog dry off after a dip in the sea. The room also features plenty of laundry facilities, including a traditional clothes dryer for drying clothes after coastal activities.
Mossdale features ample storage space, a well-equipped kitchen, and a bright, open-plan dining/sitting room with large east-facing bay windows. Evenings at Mossdale can be spent cosying up by the wood-burner, gazing out towards the coast from the picture windows, or stargazing under the uninterrupted sky. A shower room with a WC can also be found on the ground floor.
Upstairs, Mossdale boasts two double bedrooms, both with king-size beds and a twin room, ideal for kids. Both double bedrooms hold beautiful views out to the Solway Firth beyond Rockcliffe Beach. A large bathroom serves guests upstairs.
Relax in the private, enclosed garden, accessed from the open-plan dining room. Enjoy dining al fresco on the outdoor seating, watching the dog run around, and cosying up in the Baltic beach basket, all to a backing track of crashing waves.
There is no private parking on the property, but a car park is just a short 5-minute walk away at Barcloy Road Parking.
There are many brilliant walking and cycling trails straight from your doorstep at Mossdale. A 2-minute walk brings you to the coast at Rockcliffe Beach. From there, take a coastal stroll along the beautiful Galloway coastline finding historic shipwrecks and stories of smugglers. Stop off at Castle Point, once the site of a Roman fort, for lovely vistas out towards Rough Island and over Lugmuck Sands. Carry on towards the sandy bays at Mersehead Sand. This route is noted as one of the best coastal walks in Britain.
Take the Jubilee Path from Rockcliffe through Kippford, a route owned by the National Trust for Scotland. Find Mote of Mark, a Dark Ages fort occupied in the 5th and 6th centuries with beautiful views down to the beach and water, Rough Firth.
A 7Stanes mountain biking course is within 10 minutes of Mossdale, at Dalbeattie, where you will find incredible lochside trails around The Plaintain Loch. More routes, from beginner to expert, can be found 18 miles from Mossdale at Mabie Forest.
Take the family to Bainloch Deer Park to meet the resident deer. Threave House, Garden & Nature Reserve is 14 miles away and great for relaxing among beautiful flora and fauna. Discover late medieval noble life at Orchardton Tower (11.6 miles), a site dating back to the mid 1400s, or Caerlaverock Castle for the tumultuous history of the border conflicts.
Stop in at The Ark (4 miles) a tearoom serving delicious snacks and homemade cakes. The Crown and Anchor Cafe in Dundrennan (18 miles) is great for a break and a sweet treat. Dine in on a meal at The Steamboat Inn (11 miles) for breathtaking views over the Solway Firth.
Galloway Activity Centre (23 miles) has an abundance of activities from water sports and mountain biking to relaxing in their Loch Ken sauna. Also under an hour away is Galloway Forest Park and Clatteringshaws Loch and Visitor Centre, an extraordinary sight for stargazing.
The amenities and attractions of Dumfries (21 miles) are accessible through a stay at Mossdale. Visit the home of poet Robert Burns, or his favourite howff round the corner, The Globe Inn, for a dram or a hearty Scottish meal.
