Burnside Cottage sits in an amazing location right on the lochside at Salen on the Ardnamurchan peninsula, about 33 miles west of Fort William on the single-track road out to Kilchoan. The house itself is newly built with a stunning interior and views out over Loch Sunart to match!

With woodlands behind and a tumbling burn to the side (take care with children) it stands in its own grass garden, with French doors opening to the patio at the front so that the wonderful loch views can be enjoyed whatever the weather. The living area is spacious and open plan, with a wood-burning stove in the lounge and fine slate or polished wood flooring - everything really is of the highest quality.
There is a downstairs en suite bedroom and family shower room and the main stairs lead up to a gallery and two further bedrooms. From the sitting room another staircase leads up to the dramatic master suite with a super king bed, Velux windows and a luxurious bathroom.
The house also has excellent green credentials with air source underfloor heating. Boats and dinghies may be launched in front of the house or from the nearby Salen jetty. At Burnside Cottage you will certainly find all you could want in terms of comfort, relaxation and interest.
Ardnamurchan offers a wonderful holiday experience, with fascinating wildlife on air, sea and land, as well as great walking, fishing, cycling and sea kayaking amid some of the most spectacular scenery in the country.
Salen has a hotel and a very good shop at the end of the jetty that is licensed and has a range of fresh seafood. Acharacle (4 miles) has another hotel and several shops. From there, you can continue to the wonderful beaches at Arisaig and Morar, or even cross to the Isle of Skye from Mallaig.
To the west, you can head for Kilchoan (ferry to the Isle of Mull) and on to the lovely sands at Sanna and the westernmost point of mainland Britain.
If you do hanker after a bit of urban bustle, or even just feel the pressing need to do a massive shop, this can be combined with an enjoyable day out in and around Fort William, which can be reached via the Ardgour Ferry in about an hour and a quarter. There you can take boat trips on Loch Linnhe, climb Ben Nevis (if feeling particularly energetic), or go mountain biking on the World Championship trails on Aonach Mor. There is also an 18 hole golf course and riding at Torlundy just north of the town.
An alternative route would be along the 'Road to the Isles', in which case be sure to stop at historic Glenfinnan, at the head of Loch Shiel and climb the monument there. It marks where Bonnie Prince Charlie raised his standard at the start of the 1745 Jacobite rebellion.
On this route, near Fort William is Corpach, where there is an interesting gem and fossil museum Treasures of the Earth and where you can also walk along the spectacular series of locks known as Neptune’s Staircase, where the Caledonian Canal descends to the sea.
