Sitting in a impressive location in front of the corbett that inspired its name is Creach Bheinn, a detached rural cottage that looks out across fields to the scenic shore of Loch Linnhe near Ardgour (10 miles).

One can’t help but be drawn in by the beautiful loch views that are shown off by large windows on two sides of the attractive sitting room, that is warmed by a gas wood-effect stove.
The dining kitchen is lovely and bright and airy with seating set up by patio doors that open up to really ‘bring the outdoors in’. A little utility room supplements the kitchen and is a handy place to keep washing neatly out of the way.
A pretty twin bedroom and neat bunk room are laid out downstairs where there is also a modern shower room and, heading upstairs, the two further bedrooms both have great views out to the water. The double room has a handy en suite shower room and the twin room makes use of a family bathroom.
Encircling the house is an enclosed grassed garden which backs onto the huge mountain behind that rises up dramatically and is quite a sight to behold. From the front door is only a short walk down to the delightful pebbly beach shore that just begs to be explored.
If tackling Creach Bheinn is on the agenda it is important to be prepared with suitable footwear and clothing as the corbett can take up to 6 hours to ascend and descend. Once at the summit there are amazing views over to the islands of Lismore and Mull to admire and photograph.
Strontian (12 miles) is the place to stock up on groceries or Fort William (20 miles) has a choice of supermarkets. Otter Adventures just outside Strontian offers sea canoeing and kayaking expeditions which are a great way of experiencing the wonderful scenery from the unique perspective of the water.
Ardgour (10 miles) is home to an inn with a bar and restaurant that serves excellent meals. Not far from the inn is the Corran Point Lighthouse that dates all the way back to 1860 and is still in operation to this day. The nearby ferry service runs over to the village of Corran in Lochaber for exploration further afield.
At the Nevis Range Resort (25 miles) there are snowsports to try out in the winter months and in the summer the gondolas are made good use of by mountain bikers keen to take on the range of different graded trails.
For a day trip over to the Isle of Lismore, a passenger ferry runs from Port Appin (29 miles) an hour’s drive away and the crossing only takes 10 minutes. The island is known as the ‘fertile isle’ due to its lush landscape and abundance of beautiful wildflowers and as it is only 10 miles long it is ideal for walkers and cyclists (bike hire is available).
