Loch Shiel is just under a mile away and great for a variety of water activities like salmon and trout fishing, swimming, kayaking, or taking a cruise to spot the variety of wildlife from Golden Eagles, Seliag to the occasional Osprey and many more.

Wander the wooded banks of the River Shiel up to Castle Tioram, a remarkable castle on the western seaboard, with extensive medieval history and magnificent views out to Loch Moidart, the South Channel and surrounding mountains.

Just a minute down the road (0.4 miles) at Mingarry Park is their brilliant restaurant with an extraordinary Scottish menu. The amenities of the nearby village, Acharacle (1 mile), are available. Lochshiel Hotel in Acharacle has a restaurant and bar. Also in the village, East to West bakery serves delicious food and cosy cuppas.

5 miles away, Ardtoe beach is a stunning and secluded sandy beach with views across the water to Eigg, Rhum and Muck. Stroll along the Singing Sands beach and look out across Kentra Bay (6 miles). Venture a little further, just over an hour away, to another magnificent sandy beach at Sanna Bay. Also just over an hour away, at the most westerly point of Ardnamurchan, is its lighthouse, which has been guiding sailors since its construction in 1849.

Scale Beinn Resipol and gaze out to the wonderful west coast landscapes from its peak. Nestled in the foothills of the mountain is Resipole Studios, a fine art gallery to wander just 15 minutes away. The Acharacle Community Company in the village offers bike hire. Garbh Eilean Wildlife Hide (8 miles) provides beautiful views of Loch Sunart and all the local wildlife or try Ariundle Oakwood National Nature Reserve (15 miles). The nearest golf course is Traigh Golf Course (30 miles) and has nine holes.

The famous Glenfinnan Viaduct (27 miles) can be visited on a day trip. Ardnamurchan Charters, based out of Laga Bay, offer wildlife spotting boat trips and trips across to the Isle of Mull, accessible for a day trip.
