Yew Tree Cottage
Loch Kishorn, Wester RossGuest Rating
Yew Tree Cottage must surely conform to the archetypal idea of a traditional Highland home - a whitewashed, solid, stone-built cottage in a beautiful woodland setting at Little Courthill. Close to the shores of Loch Kishorn and near the foot of the Applecross mountains - this is one of the most scenic parts of Scotland’s west coast.

It's no wonder that guests enjoy coming back to the cottage after a day out exploring - it feels like coming home and is the perfect place to relax and re-charge your batteries.
You'd expect such a place to have plenty of character and Yew Tree Cottage does not disappoint. Inside you’ will find that traditional features such as wood panelling have been retained and incorporated into the most stylish of restorations and now combine happily with every modern comfort, including underfloor heating.
The sitting room has a wood-burning stove for that extra touch of cosiness on evenings in. The spacious dining-kitchen with its free-standing units has everything you’ll need for preparing a romantic feast of local seafood or packing up a picnic for a day’s exploring. Also on the ground floor you’ll find a shower room and a boot room.
Upstairs are two excellent bedrooms, that both have views of the Applecross mountain tops, and a nice bright bathroom.
Here at the eastern end of Loch Kishorn, at the foot of the Applecross mountains you are perfectly situated for exploring the amazing Applecross peninsula. The spectacular Bealach na Ba, the Pass of the Cattle, is not to be missed with fantastic views down to Loch Kishorn and over the sea to Skye and beyond.
Don't forget to schedule in a meal at the Applecross Inn and time to explore the nearby coral beach with its white sand before following the coast road north.
The Torridon hills, so beloved of climbers and walkers and the Beinn Eighe Nature Reserve are only half an hour from the cottage, while Plockton and the Skye bridge can be reached well within the hour. This area just teems with wildlife, from otters and seals around the coast to sea eagles in the skies above. With secluded beaches nearby for lazy days on the shore, walking in the hills and woodlands, kayaking, boating, fishing, or just watching the world go by, you’ll find Yew Tree Cottage your perfect home-from-home.
Kishorn village, within walking distance of the cottage, has an award winning Seafood bar serving locally caught seafood throughout the season. With its white stone cottages along the shore line the village of Kishorn is also home to many artists and their studios.
Lochcarron, approximately 6 miles to the south, has a restaurant, hotels, cafe, shop, butcher and garage. Shieldaig (8 miles to the north) has a hotel, cafe and shop.
