This attractive cabin is situated on the edge of a tiny group of small dwellings above the shore at Ord in the south west corner of the lovely Isle of Skye that is known as the 'Garden of Skye'.

Facing west, with glorious views across Loch Eishort to the mountains beyond, it has the added benefit of being the nearest cottage to the rocky shore and having birch trees to the side that provide a considerable degree of privacy.
Inside, the pine lined interior is in its natural state throughout, which contributes to the feeling of being somewhere snug and welcoming. The open plan layout of the main living accommodation keeps everyone companionably together, whether cooking, eating or just relaxing. It has been extended out to create a spacious new seating area in front of the huge French doors that open out onto a pretty deck where the best of the loch views can be admired.
The kitchen area is modern and well fitted and there is plenty of space for everyone to get round the dining table in comfort. The shower room is also of a good size and is very up-to-date and stylish.
Children may prefer to spend their time up in the galleried snug area, from which they can still see and hear everything that is going on. Adults too may care to escape up there on occasion for some peace and quiet! The fact that part of the living area is therefore double height also confers a pleasing impression of spaciousness and light.
Having bedrooms upstairs and down means that the cabin will suit many party configurations. There is a double and a single bedroom downstairs and a twin room upstairs, all of which are cosy and comfortable and have been very thoughtfully laid out.
The cabin is reached by a short, steepish drive with a paved parking area and is surrounded by rough grassland where the local sheep graze, adding to the charming ambience. A little track leads through the trees to take walkers round the promontory, while the raised deck makes a splendid vantage point for enjoying the heavenly views and spectacular west coast sunsets.
This section of the coast provides some wonderful picnic spots with arguably the best views on the island of the magnificent mountains.
There is plenty of opportunity to spot seals and maybe even an otter in the water or an array of birds such as buzzards and sea eagles in the sky above.
It is but a short and highly scenic drive over to the main road on the east side of the peninsula (look out for deer), where there are excellent eating places such as the Eilean Iarmain Hotel at Isleornsay, or Lady Claire Macdonald's Kinloch House with its gourmet shop. For everyday shopping and indeed all facilities, Broadford (16 miles) is the place to head for.
From there you are well on the way, by the main road, to many of Skye's foremost attractions: the capital Portree (41 miles), Sligachan (32 miles) from where you can climb in the Red Cuillin, Dunvegan (51 miles) with its ancient castle and coral beaches. On the way you will pass Sconser (29 miles) where there is a golf course and where you can take the ferry across to the enchanting Isle of Raasay.
