Guests are welcomed to the house through the charming sun room where there is handy storage for coats and boots, etc. The sitting room is the heart of the house and it is cosied by an electric flame effect fire that creates a lovely warm ambience.
The well-equipped kitchen is L-shaped with the dining area set up by the window so that the view of the garden can be taken in whilst eating.
Both of the attractive bedrooms, a double and a twin, are laid out upstairs with coombed ceilings and roof windows that are keep them light and bright. They share a modern shower room with a walk-in shower.
Outside the large, well-maintained garden is fully enclosed with a huge gravelled area beyond it that has plenty of space for parking. The garden, which is laid mainly to grass, enjoys wonderful views out towards the towering Beinn na Caillich (one of the Red Cuillin mountains). A picnic table by the front door allows for meals to be enjoyed al fresco and there is secure storage for bikes and other sporting equipment.
Please note: Aisling Cottage is not suitable for guests with limited mobility.
For those who fancy exploring Beinn na Caillich for themselves, it can be climbed in around 4 to 6 hours (up and back) with some absolutely magnificent panoramas to see from the summit. The Cuillin mountains are separated into red and black cuillins with 11 munros in total to tackle within the mountain range.
The dark skies in the area are perfect for those who enjoy a spot of stargazing and, in the right conditions, the stunning Aurora Borealis may even be spotted by a lucky few.
Supplies can be stocked up on in Broadford (1.5 miles) less than 5 minutes’ drive away. It also has a couple of excellent restaurants and the nearby Sleat peninsula is well known as a haven for foodies with several well known, tempting restaurants to try out.
The delightful Portree (27 miles) is actually the capital of the Isle of Skye which may well seem familiar as the quaint, colourful houses that line its harbour are known the world over. Just outside Portree at ACE Skye a range of interesting activities are on offer including axe throwing, clay target shooting, archery and air rifle shooting.
If a trip back over to the mainland is on the agenda it is an easy and very picturesque drive over the bridge to the Kyle of Lochalsh. From there it is only 10 minutes further drive to visit the magnificent Eilean Donan Castle that is one of Scotland’s most iconic sights.
