Glenshee Ski Resort
Glenshee, between Blairgowrie and Braemar, takes its name from the Gaelic 'The Glen of the Fairies' and skiing here can indeed be quite magical. It is the furthest south of the Scottish ski resorts and is therefore arguably the most accessible. It is also the most extensive, stretching for 2000 acres over four mountains and three valleys, with 36 runs, 40 kilometres of pisted snow and 21 lifts.
Things have certainly moved on from the early days in the 1930s, when skiers were towed up by tractor! The resort caters for all levels of skiers and snowboarders, with ski hire, ski schools and equipment hire available.
